System Shutdown
Was going to post this in the bug Reports, but decided not to as not even sure what is causing this. So posting here to see if anyone has had this issue and if so what they might have done to fix it even if it is temporary.

All drivers up to date. Latest versions of everything. Everything else works fine.. you know the score. System specs on profile page.

But this game... Every two hours or so of play something causes my frames to go to hell.
Like 1 frame every 3 to 5 seconds, Proper slide show.
Lasts for about 20 seconds then full system shutdown. Sometimes system just hangs.
Can't even Ctrl Atl Del.
First night of play with my mate the game ran flawlessly. Was running on all high at 1440p and was great fun. Temps were extremely high so the next night I set it to 1080p on all high and that's when this shutdown seemed to appear. Tried 1440p again assuming that the lessened load at 1080p was causing the issue and it happened again.

Thinking of sending an email to the devs directly, but can't see that doing anything during this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lockdown.

Has anyone had or know of someone that had this issue and what they might have done to solve it other than just not playing.

Sounds like a throttle issue ending in a shutdown.
You have noticed extreme high temps. So... how high are we talking here ?
Better check if there's enough and sufficient cpu / gpu cooling.

Temps will vary on many systems,

i have stable temps for this game as it seems it's not that demanding on my hardware.
cpu 40° C. / gpu 55° C. no matter how long a game session duration is.

No real experience with amd cpus or gpus but arnt those 5700xt cards running very hot to start with? Any OCing going on on top of that?

Limiting your fps to 60 via your amd driver or Vsync would produce alot less heat then letting this game run unlimited and might temporary let you play unhindered until you find a real solution.

No OC. 75c to 85c at 1440p, 45c to 55c at 1080p. Running 1440p in every other game on high or ultra and temps seem to be good even if it hits 70c on the odd occasion. Mostly stays around 45c to 55c. Very well ventilated room, Case has lots of fans drawing in and expelling air in the right configuration.

Card seems to run better at higher temps. Don't ask I have no idea.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint runs smooth at 70c+, but when running fans at higher speeds and bringing temps down to the late 50's mid 60's game runs worse, seems to be common across all my Ubi games. Although RDR2 does run better at higher temps. Cooler temps I see more hiccups.

I use Radeon Chill at all times, Limited to 60. My TV is limited to 60Hz so no need for higher frames. No other options enables in AMD software other than a very aggressive custom fan curve

I might just lower the graphical options and up the resolution back to 1440p and try for lower temps and see how it goes. I only really play online with my mate in his session so guess I don't have to worry about possibly losing my save to corruption with system lock ups/hangs.

Thanks for the reply mates. Hopefully this is a known issue and will be resolved very soon. Really loving the game.

Those temps are not critically bad. I'm reading now those gpus have multiple advanced temp sensors and will go to full 110 degrees on a single hotspot before even starting to throttle down. With an aggressive fancurve and 85 degreees I dont think the gpu would be throtteling down (yet).

Anything in Windows logs eventviewer about what processes are having trouble?

Yh I've heard about the 110c max upper limit. Few people think AMD are crazy to assume that this is normal and acceptable.
Using the OC version with AIB cooler, Before I had the 5700 XT Reference with a blower and that thing got so hot so often it started to artefact. Managed to persuade my retailer to refund and purchased the AIB cooler one instead. Much better thermals.. Most times.

About the even viewer.. During the times that the game grinds to a stop I'm only seeing a few errors.

A few other warnings, but nothing to do with the game and not occurring at or even near the time the game is hanging the whole system.

I don't really ever have to use the event viewer so not 100% sure what I'm looking for, but can see nothing that seems to point to the game. At least from what I can tell.

I do however use an old Android tablet as a system monitor using AIDA 64's Remote Sensor Support. Got all essential components showing on gauges, graphs and whatnot and no throttling occurs. Everything in the norm before and during the hang. Only recently just set it up so pretty much constantly monitoring it.

Are there any weird process behaviors in task manager ?
Such as certain processes siphoning a lot of resources coincidentally when the game is running.

Did you ever had the same shutdown issue with the previous amd driver ? If not, then roll back to the previous driver... if possible.

I'm just asking away here, might help to discover the cause and eventually find a solution.

Not sure about task manager. When my mate gets on and we jump on I'll hop in and out of game to check, But all seems normal.

No issues with shutdowns on any of the previous drivers. I got the card in December 2019 so I was lucky to have missed the majority of the apparent bad driver releases since July 2019.
Pretty much started off using the new AMD Adrenalin 2020 Drivers.
I should also mention I did only get the game a few days ago and have been playing GZ on the latest driver version since.

Might just roll back if it shuts down again. Will give it one last blast tonight and see what happens.

Just finished up a game with my mate. 4 and a half hours and no shutdowns. 1440p on medium seems for the moment to be a temporary fix.
Tried on all high settings and still no problems. Will keep it at medium to keep the temps at a reasonable 55c to 65c.

Thanks for the advice anyways my dudes. Fingers crossed it stays stable.
