Why is the shotgun so unbelievably bad?

Seriously, does anyone know what a shotgun does?

I shouldn't have to pump 10-15 slugs or even buckshot into the weakpoints of a hunter and only MAYBE have it die. Even at point blank it does this. I'd be better off punching the thing to death.

Something is very wrong here, it's not even worth carrying a shotgun around due to how bad it is. I'd rather just have another AR.

the semi auto söjquist watchamacallit is good for close counter battles with hunters.

I usually bring them down with around five buckshot.

I can second the previous post, a semi shotgun will SHRED through hunters, if you shoot off their shotgun (left arm) and then the rocket turret (right shoulder)

Seems to take around 5 shots for me, any close or medium range, with my 3 star semi-auto + 5 star choke, slugs or buckshot don't seem to make a diff. The non-semi-auto does more damage per shot, according to stats.

crowns* not stars | the pump is more flat damage but the semi is more DPS (damage per second) due to high rate of fire! EDIT: had to do it man sorry

I agree, the P90 is just terrible. I tried it out when I got to the safehouse with that cliffside hangar with a fighter jet. I shot a few dozen rounds at a tank, and I didn't even see sparks fly off its armour?
I am wondering if that thing really shoots blanks or what...

If you shoot it at range you can't see the blue sparks, no matter what settings you have. I play this game on ultra at 1440p (my PC specs are listed on my profile). It seems like a bug or something

The semi auto works great for me. Hunters guns fall off with two shots of buckshot with that thing. Granted I am using a 5 star variant so maybe you just need to get further in the game before they actually start packing a punch. I remember liking the SMG a lot early game but now I don't even touch em

if im to be honest the 1-5 crown p90 is fine...but the 6 star just kicks ass, at least for me.

I'd love to find a semi-auto shotgun begin with, something that is not 1-crown trash. I have found a halndful of those. I already have 5-crown Glaucke-17, 4-crown Meusser, 3-crown Kpist, 3-crown Automatgevär 4 and a 3-crown Älgstudsare. The PVG90 is 2-crown and I have a 1-crown granatgevär (which is just waste of space tbh as it is pathetic against tanks and harvesters what I found)

the 6c P90 is insane! You HAVE TO, HAVE TO, HAVE TO shoot the correct spots on a tank and it will fall in less than 18 shots (5c P90 extended is 18 shots). There is a very faint level of player skill involved in this game.
