Doesn't always happen, so sometimes you can loot the dead hunter from inside a house by targeting the leg that is lying couple meters outside the door, very useful when the other five hunters, ten runners and two tanks are waiting just a little to the side for another chance to shoot you...
While I haven't noticed it causing a problem with looting, sometimes the explosions or other machines can throw the corpses around quite a lot because they are apparently weightless when another machine touches them. It occurs to me that if anything would cause you to lose the loot it is that moving the body from where the game thinks the loot box should be.
No.1 - vanishing dogs [runners] and 2 versions of the issue a- they dissapear while shooting at me and b- when I want to loot their corpses. [anoying]
No.2 - hunter corpses expecially apocalypse and military class starts to fly :) and get stuck in the mid air when I try to loot them [also anoying but funny]
No.3 - glitched missions. Now I have to explain. the first run had only one moment of doubt. the flying objects mission. tricky and not funny when you want all the achievements.
now In the moment I'm stuck the real fun part begins. second playthough mission lost and found. earlier nothing happened - and now wont finished. I have red this is nothing new and ok. gonna wait for some patches [hopefully] but wait! there's more :) funny thing is after beating all the bunkers suddenly I realised there is one more mission I've lost somehow I dunno even how the wrench of the works. It sais it suposse to pop out in uttern bunker. there were 3 missions available at the warboard but none of them was the one I sought. [frustrating] so I was everywhere in every part of the map and nothing. and now I have a question for those of you smarter than me - Is it truth I need to finish the glitched lost and found mission to get the wrench of the works appear or is it something else and I'm forgetting something? please advise... cuz I really miss those achievements :)
No.4 - glitched collectibles. tried to found them and I did - but the map shows somethins else and stats also didn't include my found. happened couple of times [frustrating even more]
No.5 - multiplayer. playing with one friend doesn't feel to do any damage to your progress, map locations and etc. but when 3 joins oh! the horror starts :) several times the hud indicator starts to choke when someone other than me found a safehouse. when I'm hosting and find something first = that's fine but when another player [playing 3/4] will do it - the safehouse icon will stay with you forever :) and it happend to me only 6 times :D lol
No.6 - and most important - constant crashes, errors and bugs. after 200+ hours I saw my desktop like 50-60 times and that's way too much [frustrating as hell]
so after 2 months of madnes - the game is good, story is cool, enemies are [were] op which is great - but those glitches are spoiling the fun.
And I'm not sure if want to try the dlc. guys what do you think? correct me if I'm wrong. cheers
That's all pretty much spot on to the current situation. All of those are known issues, most of them officially acknowledged and no one really knows if they will ever actually be fixed aside from the mission bugs which will almost certainly be solved with the next patch.
There are couple problems with this: the manifest from Refueling doesn't mention any locations, so how would that lead you toward the Accounting Office East? Lost And Found points towards the IGA factory, and while the Old Guard mission tells you to go looking for clues the only mission item is the radio in the car telling that the old guys locked some robots inside the bunker; doesn't help that the gun holding the doors closed could glitch so you can't open them and you can actually complete the mission by using a grenade or EPM outside the doors, which will cause the fuel tanks and machines inside to explode and clear the mission without opening it.
Anyways, try doing those four missions or, if you already did, check the log if you have all the mission items from each of them and if the Old Guard bunker has anything to pick up. If that doesn't work, try The Gas Factory or Back On Track, one of those had a mission item mentioning shipments, maybe it was what WITW needed.
Some people say the game crashes all the time, while I have played since it was released and have crashed all of four times and two of those were clearly because I switched to browser while the game was on. The things that seem to increase chances of crashing include having other programs running in the background, using a computer with too little memory, using high graphics settings with too weak graphics card, and playing multiplayer either on a slow connection or with anyone whose computer has one of those issues. I suggest checking if Windows wants to run something big on startup, if your firewall is blocking something important, if your RAM and GPU are at their limits when the game is on, and if playing single player will remove your issue. And then tell the devs on the official forums, because they need to know why your machine is crashing when the game runs fine on theirs.
The DLC includes a new island full of even deadlier machines that take even more bullets to kill and sometimes come in large numbers. If you feel the base game isn't giving you enough challenge I recommend buying it.
Please make the game save every few minutes as well as this, because at the moment it crashes before I can get to the next safehouse to unlock it. There is no way to progress.
The game should save your location on the map not just your inventory and skill points etc. Then when you load the game after a crash (or even after exiting. Why not?) it would load you back where you were.
This is what most games do. Why not this one? Why does it teleport you to the safehouse and lose your (geographical) progress? I can see no good reason for this. It shouldn't do that unless you die.
Threads about the crashing are being removed at the request of certain users who believe there is a conspiracy to destroy the company by lying about game instability.
Unfortunately removing forum threads doesn't fix the crashing.
Good reasons? Managing save file bloat for one, but here's even better reason: If the game saved your exact location in the world you would end up with same problem as a bunch of Fallout and Skyrim players whose game autosaved a second before they die. So now every time they try to load the game they immediately die. This game already has the issue with robots killing you again right after using the adrenaline shots, it does not need to make it worse.
If your game really crashes every few minutes, first check the suggested hardware requirements on the store page and see if your computer is anywhere near them, update all your drivers and close all the programs running in the background aside from Steam and antivirus. If one of those wasn't your problem, try lowering the graphics settings, this game is huge and needs loads of memory to run smoothly.
That's unfortunate. However, as I send a crash report every single time it crashes (and in the past week that is at least 4 dozen times. DOZEN) the devs and Avalanche have that info. Evidence that the game is crashing like a mofo. Anywho, crashes are random for me with no real set time other than a few times I was about to make it to a new safe house to save my progress. My system is Win10 1909 build, MSI Aresenal 450 MOBO, 16GB 3000mhz Corsair Vengance, Ryzen 5 3600, Nvidia GTX 1660ti. Computer is booted off a 256GB Samsung EVO SSD and all of my Steam games are on a 1TB Samsung EVO SSD. No other game I own crashes like this and as far as graphical horsepower, I have plenty enough so that games like Metro Exodus are playable on High or Ultra at 60fps without crashing.
NVIDIA website lists GZ as one of the games they have optimized graphics for, but for some reason the GeForce Experinece program isn't even detecting the game exists...
In the past month I have submitted (and exported) over 150 crashes. There is nothing wrong with my computer, it runs even the newest biggest games on ultra. This is the only game that crashes like this. The crashes are happening on Xbox, PS4 and all configurations of Windows 7/10. That is the facts. It's not a hardware problem generally, though some people certainly might have system instability. But if this is the only game you're crashing on, your system is likely fine and you'll have to just hope the developers actually do something about it. If you want to go on a wild goose chase that probably will make no difference then there are some things you can try, but at best you will only reduce the degree of crashing until the source of all this is addressed.
The game runs PERFECTLY smoothly. I only have 6GB of ram so if there was a problem it would probably be that. But that shouldn't result in the graphics driver crashing, which I believe is what is actually happening. I'm using a 980 Ti so the game shouldn't be stressing the GPU out at all.
Essentially it runs perfectly and I couldn't ask for better performance. But then it crashes. At random. Not when lots of stuff is going on. Not when new areas are loading up. Just completely random times. I really don't think my hardware is at fault. This is buggy game programming.
You are correct that it is buggy. However it's probably not your graphics driver. If Crash Reporter catches the crash then click "What does this report contain" then look at the minidump.xml. You will see the faulting module. If it's the driver it will be one of the driver components listed. If it's not that then it will just have GenerationZero_F.exe as the faulting module. All the errors it throws are memory violation errors, three in particular which all involve memory being managed improperly by the executable.
If crash reporter doesn't trigger then you can look in your Computer Management console under Event Viewer/Custom Views to see the crash in there. You will almost assuredly see a 0x00005 or 0x0000409 or B E X 6 4 (Steam censors that without spaces for some reason) error which are manifestations of the memory violations, i.e. bugs in the engine.
Why so many people are getting it and some get no crashes is not known but the crashes happen on all platforms and OS versions just the same, and likewise people on all those same platforms may not crash at all. It is likely something that happens on an individual level within the save file and the evolution of a particular person's open world.
