I agree the abundance of lootable corpses on the island is a big departure from the main game, but the enemy population on the island is also WAY denser than in the main game also (at least twice now I've been ambushed by 15 Apoc Hunters and a Tank while trying to take down a level 4 rival and his entourage).
I also felt that the Apocalypse enemies weren't so much challenging as they were annoying and cheap. I really feel that their design was done by someone who doesn't understand the difference between being clever and being annoying.
Maybe my perception of the DLC was skewed because I jumped right in from my old "Behind the Curtain" save file, having skipped the Rivals update, and so didn't have any experimental weapons. The DLC really feels like it's designed for an endgame build, I think I'd have put my fist through my monitor and uninstalled the game if I had attempted it without maxed out damage resistance and health.
well you need a good middle ground enemy for begginers to fight, as well as be filler enemies to compensate for the bigger robots flaws.
But I'm kinda glad that they're just kept in a room instead of adding them around the world.
