harvesters are another machine I think needs beefing up. what I would like in the future is to give them a good but scary purpose. like harvesters carry captured humans in a cage on its back, and you have to destroy the harvester to release them. that might entail designing a whole new machine or to enlarge their body so as to make it look right carrying a cage.
Tanks more often give back the ammo used to kill it.
Use your handgun or a shotgun after you take out the runners and watch a harvester drop equally fast as with your AR/sniper if not faster and considering harvesters often are " free loot", in terms of danger when taking them down, I think the loot awarded is fine. Destroying a few kneejoints and the rocket pod is usually enough to drop them. Just make sure youre fast on your feet dodging those rockets (unless you destory the rocketpod early, then its defenseless)
Getting ammo I dont currently use sometimes is also fine with me since ill just stash it away for another charatcer or for when I'll use that type of weapon.
Leveling rivals has meant nothing to me. I killed a level 1 prototype hunter rival and got an experimental shotgun and I killed a level 4 FNIX Hunter rival and got 50 rounds for my rifle. Leveling doesn't make that much of a difference from my experience.
I also have to agree with Dovahkiin789, using them for leveling means nothing.
Harvesters needs serious love. I don't like that caged people suggestion, because it won't fit to the story at all, but INTOWNs suggestion has a hint of an idea that could lead to something interesting. Devs should seriously consider make something interesting out of it. Maybe massive fuel tank, maybe some robotic parts (Tank head) or Tank weapon or for example those radar relay thingies you can destroy. But that is not enough to make them interesting. Their loot should be better in the first place.
And second, for example, their reach with the rockets should be MUCH longer, for example three times longer, and they should shoot for example three times the rocket load than they are firing now.
They should also have that "poof" weapon, the Tank have, to keep the players away, and then those dogs. Now there is only three of them and they can't guard anything. There should be nine of them following and defending it, based on the load it is carrying. And they should literally defend it, not running one by one towards the player, who shot one from kilometer away, because then it is way too easy to take all of them out one by one. Those harvester guarding dogs should work as a group, stay in close proximity of the machine, and shoot at the general direction even if no one sees the player. Those guard dogs should have different AI than the rest of the dogs.
Regular dogs are fine as they are now and they should still be acting solo like they are acting now.
I have never experienced Harvester do that to me. Just couple of days ago I was standing literally under two of them. And no poof anywhere. Once it stomp me with its front leg. It was that FNIX type. Though, standing right next to them is not something usually I do anyway, so maybe I have been just out of its reach.
I have seen three of them poof that poisonous gas at me and then I have been quite far away from it, but I can't remember if it was army version or fnix.
