This game seems like it would be perfect - Open world survival looter shooter - Is there an alternative?

Lots of negative press around this one, I guess my question is:

1) Is the game the Open world survival looter shooter I've been looking for?
2) If not, can you offer an alternative? I've tried nearly everything on steam - The forest, 7D2D, Scum, Empyrion, etc. But nothing has scratched that itch.

I guess if I had to describe it, I'm looking for DayZ, only good, and single-player, and with less emphasis on survival, and more on weapons, ammo, etc.

I am enjoying Generation Zero alot. I can agree that the game have gotten some heavy flak but the developers pushed a big patch recently and that adressed alot of issues and added some new features, locations and mechanics.

If I had to describe GZ it`s a tactical shooter with RPG elements. You loot ALOT, the ammo is scarse in the beginning and also the weapons, but that adds to the challange. You also loot diffrent clothing but as of now i think it`s only cosmetics, but i don`t mind.

The skill tree is intresting, think the level cap is 30 so you better choose those skills well because you can`t have them all. You are forced to specialize in a gameplay style and that add some replay value as you can handle situations diffrently.

The story is open and narrated if you look for it, messages, notes, radiotransmissions etc are located in the game for the player to find. Think it works really well.

The only issue i have with the game for the moment is linked to the graphics and the ingame DOF and AA. However if you download Reshade and turn on "Adaptive sharpen" (found a couple of more filters that add some depth to the immersion) you are all set.

I couldn`t recommend this game more but that is me, everyone feels and play diffrent.

This is not a survival game. It has been said many times, if you want a survival game, there are many others. This is action adventure.

And perhaps that's more what I'm looking for. I say "survival" but most survival games I've tried are mostly a boring grind. I mostly mean the gameplay loop of exploring while looking for loot, while trying not to get killed by the world's enemies.

Then this is for you. This is action vs scavenging and foraging for food.

I do not even want to buy RAGE 2 anymore

Spend your money for another studio
GZ is a coop game, not a solo game (before it was possible, no longer possible now)

some still believe that the June update will change something, the naive

The development team that made Rage 2 is NOT the same team that developed GenZ.
GenZ has solo, I play it all the time.

Then it's the same studio, no matter if it's not the same team

TKOM from Bohèmia not the same team but the same studio for a game totally baclé
I have many other examples like that if you want

Do not mislead people, this game is totally busted right now
There are other solo adventure game much better than GZ
