Charme Dash Ability
I found out randomly today that Charme had a unique ability to dash or something by pressing a movement direction twice in a row. __> __>

It makes afterimages trail behind her and I think she speeds up. I wasn't able to see much of it because I died pretty quickly, but I was surprised it seemed to be a kinda secret / different ability bound to buttons that Louie doesn't have.

Is there any other way to use it other than forward, forward? I find that button input hard to use / awkward.

Not sure if any other characters have other special abilities too.

I have been just sticking to using Louie even though I'd like to try other characters. He usually just has way better gear and is so much stronger.

Double-tap is the only way to dash with Charme. Unless she has high HP/def it's best to only use it to cover distance when backtracking across rooms you've already cleared.

Caillou also has a unique attack ability. Tapping the button does a stick bonk while holding it charges up a simple magic attack and he starts off with 3 SP magics. He's super awkward to use, though, so I never use him. I can't remember if any other characters have unique traits.

Ok, thanks, Silent. I wasn't sure if maybe you could dash with another button on a controller that is unused like Y / Triangle.

Cool, I'll have to try Calliou out also. Though yeah when I tried him the first time he seemed really awkward to me also. His staff attack that you need to use to regain magic is so delayed / slow that it was really hard for me to time. I'd just get hit in the face before he'd attack almost always.

Hopefully I can check out other characters later too. So far this run is going a lot better than last time.
I definitely agree that double-tapping a movement direction is a bad choice of control scheme. I don't remember having too much of a problem with it for Charme -- if anything, I had more problems with the fact that Charme will have a stun period if she ever bonks into a wall while dashing. But I do remember being heavily annoyed with how I had to double tap to run in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon.

It may be late and I don't know the button layout on controller. On Keyboard, Esc > Status, there is a button prompt on the bottom right to 'Check controls and skills'.

Do you know Charme can negate an attack?

I've heard it requires really precise timing.
