Can't find way to rotate guest gates
I can hit Z, but I can't find the full rotation feature. It wants to snap into some pre-set orientation, which isn't compatible with the habitat I am building. Any way to get it to snap to the correct orientation when building a walkthrough habitat that isn't on what the game seems to think is the only orientation gridded structures should have?

Sorry the link to the screenie to show what I mean doesn't seem to be inserting into the post, just showing as a link. I have it set to public, so I am hoping it will be visible.

One silly thing to check quickly is that there isn't a default angle snap being applied somewhere.

Another problem I find is that the gate tries to snap to paths or barriers that I don't want it to, so sometimes I have to delete some path sections or press 'ctrl' to get it to sit independently.

It's Z and hold left click is it not? But often you have to click the centre of the path in front of where you want a gate, to make it behave.

I think it's hold Z down while you hold left click at the same time. Just pressing Z make a 45 degree turn.

If one has angle snap disabled one may *hold* z and rotate that gate or any other item freely using the mouse. If angle snap is enabled the item will snap to the angle amount shown in the angle snap setting. Tapping z should auto rotate an item 90 degrees in a clockwise order.
If one is adding it to an existing build group one may not rotate grid based items freely, they should snap at 90 degree increments like other grid based items.

All that being said, there are a few item in planet zoo that do not show the the angle snap option but they respond to it.

The guest gate is one of these items.

For those we must select an object that does show angle snap options and set the snap settings then go back to the problem item. This is a bug where the user interface seems to be not displaying correct information and most players will not encounter it at all while others may see it in every session and even more players might see it randomly occur and not notice.
Sorry for the long response, just wanted to explain all of it.

grampers, of course, is right. Hold down the z button, and a funny looking thing shows up. Then you rotate it with the mouse., by turning it left or right.

it all seems strange and hard at times, then you just get used to it. I do it now without thinking.

See what you mean, unfortunately I do not use them and don't really make walkthrough habitats anymore. That means this comment is completely useless because I have no solution to your problem.

Thanks for the information. I'll have to try this.

The guest gate auto goes to align to the barrier you want to place it in, (like the viewing dome entrance) there's no need to revolve it. Often it will not behave unless you click on the edge of the path you want it to connect to.

One may place the gates without a barrier in place. Doing so will allow a player to rotate the gate to make the entrance do different things for effect.

You can? I cannot see the purpose of that.

Let's say a player builds a fancy entrance into a habitat and the gate must align with the opening they made. that player may drop in a gate exactly where it needs to be and then connect the barriers to the gate. no fussing with trying to get the barrier right so the gate works. Same thing goes for the track airlock.
