Another problem I find is that the gate tries to snap to paths or barriers that I don't want it to, so sometimes I have to delete some path sections or press 'ctrl' to get it to sit independently.
If one is adding it to an existing build group one may not rotate grid based items freely, they should snap at 90 degree increments like other grid based items.
All that being said, there are a few item in planet zoo that do not show the the angle snap option but they respond to it.
The guest gate is one of these items.
For those we must select an object that does show angle snap options and set the snap settings then go back to the problem item. This is a bug where the user interface seems to be not displaying correct information and most players will not encounter it at all while others may see it in every session and even more players might see it randomly occur and not notice.
Sorry for the long response, just wanted to explain all of it.
