Controller support

I was excited with the recent console edition that we would finally get controller support, it's been a while since I played because I prefer controller yet when I loaded the game I see no option for controller support, and steam button mapping is an horrible experience. Any chance PC players get controller support option, I also love to stream games to GeForce now to our living room TV the family loves to try and play and see the animals but it's impossible right now with just a controller.

While there is nothing public about controller support being added we have seen that planet coaster has it now. SO we may or may not see it added. Only time will tell. And it looks like Planet Coaster 2 will have controller support right out of the box.

Yeah it's really upsetting. The age of the Steam Deck every game should be trying to have controller support ASAP.

Controllers for PCs use normally use the mouse settings so need no further software.

Huh? I'm not sure what you're saying. Planet Zoo has a lot of shortcut keys and UI elements that aren't accessible with a controller with the standard KBM UI. They solved this by creating a completely new UI for controller on consoles, which we sadly don't have access to on PC.

PZ is more or less all select with the cursor and click.

Which doesn't translate well to controller. Having to use menus by manually aiming the cursor freely with a controller sucks. There's a reason they make controller specific UIs.

You just hit the nail on the head. Adding controller support would add another ui setup to an already busy ui. And it would also add a new set of input checks that had to be scanned each compute cycle.

A separate controller UI would be less busy, not more. It wouldn’t be on top of the KBM UI. Console offers both options, so nothing stopping PC from doing the same.

Idk why people are arguing against controller support. It doesn’t affect those who won’t be using it in any way, but it will make the game more accessible and help out people who are unable to use KBM controls for whatever reason.

Nothing official announced either way. I would not expect it to be added though...
