verify game files through steam library.
Confirm windows and system drivers are up to date.
Verify steam common redistributables.
Check microsoft redistributables for update/repair. (in apps in windows)
Many recent windows updates seem to have broken paths and permissions for those redistributable files for many players.
If none of this helps submit a report to the issue tracker. Be sure to add to any existing issues of this type rather than starting a new one.
Start Game, Go to Options select the Lowest Graphics settings, Exit Game (this will save these settings as default).
Start Game, try to open an 'old zoo' if CTD. Restart and goto the 'My Zoos' and look for an autosave file. Try opening the game that way. If CTD. Uninstall and Reinstall Game (verify game files does NOTHING in my experience)
Start Game. Start New Zoo. Sorry but all you old zoos and their animals are now stuck. If you want to play start a new zoo.
Rules for New Zoo. Keep all facilities bare bones and stripped down. No themes. Keep the shops, infos, toilets, etc. to 10 or under. Build one set of all staff buildings, one exception is one other staff room. Do not do any contruction.
Start Small (as usual) the goal is to keep the zoo to 3 or 4 habitats (maybe an exhibit is you have low building totals), guest population under 1500, and paths 4 tiles wide to spread out traffic.
If you have vet or mechanic research to do, then the small zoo is all you need to get caught up. Have 2 Habitats for the attractions (probably a big cat or bear and then a 'cute' species with a high birth rate for frequent babies), and then one habitat for whatever species you are researching.
THAT is pretty much your zoo. Small and bare bones but PLAYABLE. Finish research on a species and then resign the habitat for the next one, lather, rinse, repeat.
Done with your research? Then work on your trading center. Improve the diversity and quality of the animals you have in 'reserve' for the day when you can play the game like the old way in the future (IF that ever happens).
Be warned it is my experience that A LOT of my CTD happen at the animal uncrating animation. To the put that I actually tense up when a care keeper tosses a box in a habitat. So I tend to play sloooow, with a lot of auto saves. Do not toss a lot of boxes at once, let some time pass between them.
If (lol... IF?) When your game CTD these are my steps to try and get back to playing what used to be one of my favorite games.
Uninstall and Reinstall PZ
Go to My Zoos, look for an autosave file, try to load zoo
You might lose some 'progress' doing this but I have found trying to load an autosave from My Zoos a lot more successful that continue or selecting from Franchise list. (no idea why, just my experience)
If un/re install, load autosave does not work, then guess what... time to make another zoo. Look at it this way there are steam achievements for 25 franchise zoos and building one on every continent.
You will probably not be able to get into you old zoo, so start a New Zoo and build an austere zoo to try and get SOME game play out of PZ.
Good Luck
If you cannot stop the crashes, open a new zoo.
And let's not even mention the support team, who hasn't responded to me for a week.
After the hast three DLCs launching I couldn't play the game, after buying them. Now crashes, the second time a lot of bugs and crashes.
It feels like a problem with the latest dlc and the Game itself. It didn't help to open a new zoo and the current guides and solutions in here didn't help either.
Anyone else that had this kind of troubles and got it fixed?
I was able to play just fine until about 3 days ago, now it crashes before it loads, or shortly thereafter.
