What do people do about apes?
My local zoo has Africa section, Asia section etc, but they keep all the apes basically in 1 area no matter what continent they are from. I wanted to have monkey/gibbons habitat for each continent separate, but I am kind of running out of space for that and don't want small habitats with just 1 species here and there.

You could look at the ones that get enrichment from each other and put some of them together. The ones left over, you could try putting 2 or 3 species together that share the same biome/continent setup, space permitting. Not only will the mixed species habitat give the guests a 'look at the variety of animals in there' buzz but the different species having babies will also give them a 'cute little baby' buzz.
Always a difficult thing to work out. I like to separate the monkeys from the greater apes which makes things a bit less cluttered.
Thanks guys, that helped. I went with a smallish habitat that now houses 2 pairs of Lar Gibbon and 1 pair of Siamang. Its a fitting group as they are both endangered. I put it furthest out in my Asia section. MY only other option to keep it in Asia was across from my 1st exhibitant next to the zoo entrance. Like 1/2 of my ai guests already congregate there. I was afraid the Gibbon habitat would just make that guest blobbing worse if I placed it there.

As it is after running the game a full hour since they were added, they get 5 guests at a time only. I know people will come once there is a restaurant and a toilet. They seam to draw more then animals in this game. haha. My entrance has a big food court too, so I gave the monkeys some peace.

This exhibit is from the workshop. I redid the barriers as they were not meant for the Siamang which needs a bigger and deeper water barrier. Added higher glass and they wild hedges with autumn litter to break up all the green. It is very lush. Maybe too lush for my tastes now. I'll get used to it. Had to clear out the block flooring and a lot of overgrowth inside to make items accessible to the keeper in the outdoor area.

Then move my train tracks closer to get a good view passing nearby. I'm concerned how slow editing of tracks and water is becoming as I get more stuff in my zoo. Hopefully my computer can handle it all so I can add in everything I want.

I converted that habitat for Mandrills. Changed out foilage for Africa and about 70% less for the Mandrill preference. It was really quite small.

I made a new habitat happily fits all the Asian primates. Yea! Plus I made it with enough shallow water and deep water for Otters, Cranes, and Muted Swans.

The Habitats are next to each other. The largest over curves over near the zoo entrance. However because of terrain, it is really far away walking distance wise.

I may be done with primates for this zoo. The main focus is Asia for this one. I have about 1/2 the map roughed out so far.

Good to know I can group those two together. They are on my soon list in my zoo.

I am so bad about grouping animals - I really do need to that more. 🤦‍♀️
My habitat that houses all Asian primates, (I think there is 5) has portions of tropical, temperate and the other one is Taiga. It gradual gets cooler as you go lengthwise. So there is some snow for the primates from Japan. It is big enough that everyone is happy. They all get along too. I think the lowest terrain score is 88% for the Macaque that prefer snow. Because they want a lot of snow, and I only gave them 7% cause no one else needs it.

It is my most vocal habitat so far between the primates and the cranes. The Orangutan plays the keyboards. Always out of key.

Also, null fences follow terrain. You can raise the terrain, put a bunch of ropes or climbing poles parallel to the ground, section of the area with a null barrier then flatten the terrain out again and the null barrier will float midair. It does mean you can't edit the barrier after terrain has been lowered without raising it back up though.

It does allow your monkeys/apes/lemurs etc to climb about over the guest heads without triggering escapes. So long as nothing is jumpable to the ground or climbable to the ground (or likewise to other objects like roofs), where they can then run as they please, they'll be forced to follow the tree-trail and the game still considers that traversable area count, So you can save space on the size of the actual habitat. They don't go very far mind you (about 40m directly out) before returning unless theres something at the end like a sleeping platform that they actually need and even then they only go so far (you cant for instance have them run from one side to the other no matter what you do, they'll eventually return for food/water before getting all the way). It also doesn't interfere with any ground level habitat fences of other habitats either so you can have them run over other habitats.
