Franchise Map island

I am trying to make a franchise in temperate oceania (mainland australia not an island) but evern after selecting flat or sculpted the map keeps being on an island and I'm wasting all my points retrying it's temperate why is it an island I want just a flat land how do I stop this

And you are sure you did not choose diorama?
