You could argue that the ones with the lower requirements are easier to get, but sometimes this means it might take a while to gain that popularity, while more charismatic animals have higher scores before they are eligible for releasing, they might reach those scores quicker.
For example, many of my flamingos only reach 4-5 stars at older ages, while wolverines hit that much earlier in their lifecycle.
I noticed sometimes they don't release properly and they are still in the zoo, I just try again and it works the second time around.
