i know tigers used to be very good but i am not sure if they still are

Look for species with high appeal, short maturation and multiple offspring. One I know is profitable would be red pandas so look for ones like it. With those type species, even if they don't move on trade still have a higher release value.

are they good enough?

Lions can fetch good trade values but they are expensive to feed. But all good if your zoo is staying profitable.

Lions bring also a good amount of CC when released. If you want fast CC and low feeding costs, breed some foxes. In color variations they sell good on the market but they breed so fast, you can release a huge amount in a short time.

Why do people even sell that high? Better question, why do people buy that high?? Any animals I sell are at most 1.5x or 2x what the game values at (depending on genetics, etc).

The good thing about lions though, is that it's easy to keep a sustainable population. You can put all male cubs on the market once they grow up and keep the females but have them on contraception. Then when the alpha male dies, you just need to get a new male from the market. Then when the older females die, you have several younger females ready to breed. But as grampers said, they are one of the most expensive animals to feed. So population control is vital. But then you can just put the younger females in the trade centre once they're grown.

I thought you still had to pay to feed them as they still show in the animal list of the habitat.

Yes, you do pay when they show up in the animal tab. But I can easy keep 200 animals in my trade center and feed them with the active animals donations ;) And selling bugs, snakes and other exhibit animals. So it is not a problem when your finances are in check.

my favorite animals for conservation credits are red foxes, european badgers and racoons. moorwiesen is right, color variants sale great and it is very easy to breed such animals.

Base game, start with Nile Monitors - they give birth to several young, then progress to Cheetahs. If you have DLC then the small canids - Fennec Fox, Artic Fox or Red Fox are great.

Animals that are not in the zoo's trade center do not incur feed costs. So if you are worried about feed costs, just drop the extras in another zoo's trade center.

I mean I have a lot of cc but I made an entire breeding zoo to get it.

I checked within the last 3 weeks and Cheetahs still are a great CC creature. This is just releasing them without mucking around in the Trade center. Can get nice ones pretty cheap to get started. They have a pretty consistent birth ratio.

There's 2 things I recommend doing to save yourself lots of SHY-stressed related messages..

#1 - Use one way glass (not the barrier option, but I don't like mech bills so...) You find it under construction, just type in One way and it will pop up. I make windowed areas using rocks and their habitat is made from null barriers. (When you get done, with however you make their habitat *really* do the next bit.)

#2 - Get out the terrain tool, put it to square max width, and cover the entire habitat. Make sure the terrain is touching the top of your fence/barrier. I'm not kidding. POOF goes shy issues with them. Of course I don't put their beds right up next to the one way glass and I usually have a 2 4x4 wall area (but with rocks) break in between the one way glass area usually of 2 panels before 2 4x4 blocked area again. But their fine after that.

That's it. Basically worry free cheetahs. I'd build 2 pens btw so you can mix and match breeding. But it's up to you. Can hang onto 2 or 3 good ones and just buy a fresh mate off the market as well.
