New Update: Mass Escapes?
Habitats I had that were previously secure, and big enough, are now not secure with animals escaping and some are now too small

oof. Just be prepared for your own zoos, things that were fine before the update might not be fine anymore

What's funny is that I checked every habitat for escapes after the first three, and they are STILL escaping over the fences even though no breakout points were showing

Same here... seems that also jump-over points are new calculated as 1m hight for flamingos was perfect now on some areas where are rocks near by I had to add 20-30cm to provide escapes

yup can confirm the same issues here, also the pens have less room.

likewise! Most frustratingly, animals can now jump between 'blue zones' in the traversable area heatmap, so it's impossible to see exactly where the weak points are. very frustrating for those with existing zoos

I had this in all of the zoos I've opened as well since the update. Not a very big deal though, because at least the habitat-traverseable heat map properly shows where they are escaping, making it an easy fix. At least it's working like that in my game.

The only issue I've had is a small bug where any tortoise that passes over a patch in the middle of the habitat is suddenly escaping, but it goes away when they finish walking over the area.

If your on Sandbox mode, Turn off animal escapes...

For me it's franchise mode which has the biggest long-term appeal, and where I'm most invested with existing zoos. Alas, there there's no option. Also, I don't want to remove the escape feature entirely, it's just frustrating that such a core feature which drives zoo design has been changed so late in the game's life, when many players are hugely invested in their existing zoos (and really don't want to have to redesign them all!)

i play franchise mode only, that isn't an option

Just logged in and TOTAL CHAOS! Animals escaping! Animals boxed up too long. Habitat barriers are suddenly too short (previously at height requirement). Thank God Im not a broke zoo!!! I doubt im getting reinburstment for this!!

same, i was so glad i had a very profitable zoo with a lot of saved up money to do adjustments and emergency captures

some of my habitats are too small for a mated pair of cats now though, and i can't increase their size becuase there's stuff all around them already, so they now are just one cat in each of those habitats

I'm not sure it will work/help in franchise mode but the first sandbox zoo I opened was chaotic. I quit without saving and when I reloaded the zoo, not using the auto save file, things weren't nearly so bad. I did lose recognition of water in a CA Sea Lion habitat and climbing area recognition in the Japanese Macaque and Siamang habitats but that was an easy fix. One escape point in a Euro Fallow Deer enclosure did show up where there hadn't been any before but was fairly easily fixed.

At any rate, perhaps a reload will lessen the problems, as it did for me? Everything is back to normal now, but I was a little shell shocked on first opening that zoo, lol.

It appears what might be happening is that when an animal can escape from its blue shaded area into ANOTHER pen's blue shaded area, it doesn't show up as an escape point even though it is

so my animals are now jumping from their habitat into a neighbor's habitat, but the game isn't showing those areas as escape points for me to fix, so i have to wait for it to happen to fix it

bit annoying, things were fine before the update, i'm not sure what changed to make fence heights too short and habitats too small in some cases

same
some of my animals can jump over my fences. b4 they couldnt

Well some how my lions learned to walk on tall grass.. Be careful builders to have foilage too close to the barriers..
grampers62 Oct 18, 2022 @ 12:47pm
I've noticed that sometimes after an update each zoo needs to be loaded exited and reloaded to clear faults from the updates. Not sure if this is the case this time but it can't hurt to try.
