How does the Predator tree work?
Hi so im kinda new to Planet Zoo and have just realized you cant mix some animals, i though you might be able too,
I mean i thought Lions and tigers would be alright together until i found 2 dead lions in the enclosure.
Could anyone give me a basic break down on which animals you can mix and which you cant, i mean i know the list is rather large, eg there must be 20 different monkey species, i mean it would be a pain having to build a habitat for every species,
Surely some similar animals would get along?

hello you have a category on the game to see the compatible animals

The most basic idea would be that every predatory animal should only ever be housed with its own kind. The tigers killed the lions in your game because they are generally bigger than lions --not by much, but they are. And while some IRL sanctuaries may have a lion and a tiger housed together, that is usually in very unique circumstances (such as the animals having grown up in captivity and together) which the game is just not programmed to have.

For more docile species, there is a tab in the Zoopedia menu, the farthest to the right on the top, which shows if animals can be housed with others, and if they get an Interspecies Bonus from it. For instance, the Bairds Tapir, Capybara and Caphuchin Monkey get a welfare bonus from living together.

You can house some species together that are not listed in that section as long as they are not predators. Flamingos and Peacocks could be placed in the same habitat as a deer or antelope without any problems.

Animals with similar environmental needs can be kept together, as long as they aren't dangerous.

Like, European Fallow Deer can be kept with European Badgers. The badgers are not dangerous to the deer. Okapi can be kept with Bongo, etc.

but you can't keep Lions and Leopards together, or Bears and Wolves. The big predators in general need to be kept alone unless the Zoopedia tells you otherwise

When you are looking at the animal's information there is a tab for animal compatibility which shows images of the animals that you can add in the same exhibit for the specific species.

Here is a link to a Reddit post that has a link to a spreadsheet you can download and use. The animal compatibility tab is excellent. It's updated through the Wetlands DLC.

No, it hasn't been updated to include the Conservation Pack.

Why would you ever think that lions and tigers can share an exhibit...?

Correct. Also cheetahs would be included in that list. Lions have been known to kill baby cheetahs.
