Guest energy - how to increase?
My franchise seems to be doing quite well, with a 5* rating for everything except "Happiness" which is 4*.

My current zoo is quite a modest size - 14 habitats in a compact arrangement, if that's relevant. The grid of main walking paths would fit inside a rectangle about 240m x 160m,

The lowest component of the happiness rating is always Energy, currently 69%.
I have benches all over the place, not more than 20m apart, which I hardly ever see guests use - a guest with very low energy will walk right by a bench without sitting on it.

If not benches, what else can increase a guest's average energy?

That's a good question....
Have benches... check
Have plenty of food and drink?
Have plenty of toilets?
Any transport rides?
Clear paths and good views of animals?
I sometimes struggle with that as well but I don't let it bother me too much.
In one zoo I had guest energy issues, so I placed lots of benches along a long path. But I placed them on the grass rather than on the path itself. Hardly anyone sat on them. When I moved them onto the actual path, suddenly everyone started sitting down on them. It was probably just a weird glitchy thing but just thought I would mention.

Food, drink, toilets have their own ratings, so how would they affect energy? Or do they anyway?

Good to know. Mine are all on paths, though.
Happy guests have more energy.
But then it could be part of the random guest attributes as well...
Is your franchise zoo set on easy, normal or hard?
That's what I play on and it is a bit more to get the five star zoos. Hard gets to be a lot of managing to get high ratings.
Also remember to shade as much as possible in hot areas and give areas to warm up if you are in colder areas. If people complain about the heat, they are getting exhausted super fast. The same with being cold.
Those heaters and coolers from the habitat tab will also help with those temperature-related issues! Dot the coolers in the hottest areas and set the temp to something reasonable for humans (like 75 F). Same with heaters. I mean, you can't shade every walkway in a grassland, tropical, or desert zoo!
Good advice.

I try to do that, and I have forwarded someone else's suggestion to the Frontier Forum to have path strip heaters/coolers that only affect the path, and habitat heaters/coolers that only affect the habitat.

Frontier will probably ignore this suggestion, as they do most playability suggestions at present, unless other people get over there and support it strongly.
