Why has there been a bug in this game for over 4 years?

Why has the company not fixed the bug with the keepers not feeding animals? This is a major bug that blocks game play. Yes, I know that you can cheese the work zones to make it work, but when your new zoo only has 2 exhibits, you would think that someone would feed the animals.I hired 20 of each worker just in case it wasn't the keepers job. 20 of each job in a small 3 exhibit zoo, and no one would feed the animal. Everyone did every other job but feed the animals.I had protesters because my lazy keeper would not feed one animal, i watch them stand around waiting for and animal to poop and run to clean it, but never once would they feed a single animal. Please fix this bug, I just can't play a game that intentionally leaves a bug in the game for years on end, it makes me wonder if they enjoy hurting animals.

May we assume you checked the basics? Feeders show as accessible? you have a keeper hut? You checked the traversable heat maps for staff and animals in the habitat?
The next thing to do is reset the habitat. Do this by moving a barrier post slightly, wait a moment and then tap ctrl+z to undo that move.
All this assumes you have no mods from places like nexus installed and that you have already verified game files through steam library.

Yeah, done all that, I also went back and watched the over 4 years of people trying to trouble shoot this problem.

If you are playing in sandbox mode, there is an option in animal settings about food spoilage. I believe this option needs to be checked or there will be problems with keepers feeding the animals.

It was a random bug years ago, since been fixed, so the problem must be something else.

I was playing in challenge mode, got it to work for about an hour then they just stopped feeding the animals. It was a fresh install with no mods and verified. Tried again with mods to see if anything helped, but no, nothing. I already uninstalled it.

Watch why they are not feeding them. There once was a very random bug where a keeper would get stuck in a loop in the keeper hut. I assume that's now been fixed, but deleting the hut, then using Redo to put it back usually fixed it. The original keeper would return via an entrance, but it's best to call another to come feed them.

Also check for this: If the zoo keeper refills the food enrichments, they will not refill the normal food and water items.

Refilling the enrichments is considering feeding the animals.

So if the next time the zoo keeper enters the habitat and both items are empty, they will refill the nearest one to the gate.

I usually try to add the food and water items near the gates.
