What can be the cause of this crash please?
This weird crash I had today. I had two sandbox zoo profiles created. One of them I didn't start yet and another one which I was working on-- had 7 animals. I don't make highly detailed zoo, so it had normal amount of scenery pieces. When today I started the game -- the one sandbox zoo which I haven't started yet loaded fine. But the other one which I was building with 7 animals -- kept crashing and didn't load.

I have many mods installed in my game as well as blueprints. I deleted all mods thinking that maybe any outdated mod is causing this but still-- the one zoo with 7 animals never loaded and kept crashing. But the other empty zoo loaded fine.

So the gist is my empty zoo is loading fine with and without mods. And my WIP zoo is crashing both with and without mods.

Any help is appreciated. What can be the cause? FYI both my game and graphic driver/PC everything is updated properly.

EDIT-- Thought to add it. My crashing zoo which has 7 animals doesn't mean countable 7 animals ofcourse. It means 7 types of animals. Each type has multiple of it's kind.

Also confirm that your computer exceeds minimum spec as shown on the current store page. Note that some computers with integrated graphics use system ram for vram making the ram requirement slightly higher.

Thank you for your reply. I did remove all mods first because I also thought that mods are the problem maybe. As I have said in my post that one of my zoo which was empty was loading fine even with the mods installed. But my other zoo which had animals and many guests and was getting bigger-- suddenly started crashing with or without mods installed.

Right now I've started again a new zoo which is working fine even with mods installed. When it will get bigger I'll see if it crashes again. If sadly so happens --- I guess I'll have to blame my computer then. Though my game runs fine without any lags in high settings.

It might be more related to issues with how the game saves zoos. A short while back lots of players were having games get corrupted when saving.
It might be worth the effort to save the game then exit rather than using the save and quit option only.

Thank you again. But I think mods are the problem here. I've deleted all mods and then tried to load the game but that particular saved zoo in which I had modded animals still kept crashing. I googled for some time and then with a broken heart 💔 I had to delete my zoo entirely. Deleted logs file created by Nexus as well. Verified file integrity by steam as you said. Now when I've started a new zoo with no mods installed -- I think it has solved the problem. But my big zoo is gone now 😭

Weird, I've been playing PZ with mods for a long time and the game used to run fine. I don't know what happened suddenly that mods are now not compatible with my game anymore. Oh, I love those extra animals so much. I'm gonna miss them. 😔

I don't use mods so I can't be sure but I have wondered if some mods or mixtures of mods cause issues with game saves. I suppose it may be that a zoo with mods might not even be loadable in a vanilla version (without mods) of the game.

can the mods have problems with updates? because the mods will not update, as they are not created by Frontier.

I'm not sure but this crash happened with me after the recent 1.18 update of PZ. So maybe at Nexus the mods need update and their main support file ACSE also needs update. But again I'm not sure if this crash is happening with everyone. All I know is that before recent update my game was running fine with mods. After removing all mods and every log/licence file created by ACSE, deleting the saved zoo, and verifying the game files through steam-- finally the crashing has solved. So for now I'll keep playing without mods and I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞 it won't happen again.

Mods ofcourse can have problem with update. At Nexus you'll see the mods often get updates which I didn't bother to download because updating all mods every few days is time consuming. But ACSE didn't get any update since January 24.

Yes. If the game has been updated there is a chance the mods will be out of date. You will need to check the place where you got the mods from to see what the designers say. Also if the mods are out of date, your saved zoos will have issues loading.
