You can set up storage zoos.

Can I ask why you need to store animals? Nevermind 50.

Oh, maybe I should have said that only works for franchise zoos. The trade centres are connected in franchise so as long as an animal is in there, you can put it in any zoo of the franchise.

They already increased it from 30 to 50 about a year ago, I kinda doubt they will do it again, though ofc Frontier is always big on surprises so who knows.

People who breed a lot and try to always get the perfect specimen need a lot of storage space.

Hrmm, Ok, as soon as my animals mature, I simply release them to the wild. I thought that was the idea.

One has to have storage to breed animals. Some stats take some time to get them up there like size. I have a ton of 40 to 60 percent sized animals, I would like to get them to at least 90%.

Perhaps that does not work in the sandbox. In fact in a couple of zoos I had non-interbred offspring (on maturity) with very low fertility, even though their non-interbred parents had very high fertility. It was most frustrating and storing them would have made no difference.

We've had this discussion before, David, on the "Infertility" thread. I don't understand why you keep disparaging the point of breeding and storing animals in Franchise mode, when you refuse to try it.

I put a lot of my animals into quarantine to get them out of storage

A: Disparaging? I simply asked why it's done. And the random infertility still happens, and there's no reason for it.

A: does that not have a time limit? I have occasionally done that, and they later get auto-returned to their habitat.

So, at least in Franchise mode, here are several reasons to send animals to the trade center to store them. First, one way to be expansive and creative in franchise mode is to have several zoos. This can be considered a reasonable business plan, it is, after all, a franchise. Animals sent to the trade center can then be placed, or even sold for cash by another one of your franchise zoos, helping to balance the budget, among other things.

Next, it can help with breeding when you have animals where only the alphas mate. Example, the wolves: Only male and female alpha will mate, but once they make a pup, place them in storage for a little while, a new male and female will rise to alpha rank and breed sooner than if you were just waiting for the original pair to do it again. You can then bring back the old alphas and they will just be part of the pack without their former dominant status. More puppies faster this way.

Third, as is discussed here and in that infertility thread. Yes, it does work to save your best quality offspring to create the next herd/pride/group/whatever with a new high quality mating partner from the market, and repeat over time. All statistics go up to green bars eventually, with many hitting 100%, and the chances of gold level animals is increased greatly.

Edit: Oops. Forgot to add one more obvious reason. To trade your animals on market for Conservation Credits. They need to be sitting in the trade center while they're up for auction.

I play in franchise mode and they never get returned. I just get a lot of notifications saying they're done with quarantine
