They already increased it from 30 to 50 about a year ago, I kinda doubt they will do it again, though ofc Frontier is always big on surprises so who knows.
A: Disparaging? I simply asked why it's done. And the random infertility still happens, and there's no reason for it.
A: does that not have a time limit? I have occasionally done that, and they later get auto-returned to their habitat.
Next, it can help with breeding when you have animals where only the alphas mate. Example, the wolves: Only male and female alpha will mate, but once they make a pup, place them in storage for a little while, a new male and female will rise to alpha rank and breed sooner than if you were just waiting for the original pair to do it again. You can then bring back the old alphas and they will just be part of the pack without their former dominant status. More puppies faster this way.
Third, as is discussed here and in that infertility thread. Yes, it does work to save your best quality offspring to create the next herd/pride/group/whatever with a new high quality mating partner from the market, and repeat over time. All statistics go up to green bars eventually, with many hitting 100%, and the chances of gold level animals is increased greatly.
Edit: Oops. Forgot to add one more obvious reason. To trade your animals on market for Conservation Credits. They need to be sitting in the trade center while they're up for auction.
