Trying to build, everything is always blocked

I keep coming back to this game, cause I rly want to play it, but always end up ragequitting as I can't even get my first habitat up and running.

I see people on Youtube build wonderfull habitats out of all separate pieces clipping through each other etc... But for some reason I can't even build a simple thing on a completely flat map. It always says "blocked".
Is there some kind of setting that prevents me to freebuild or what is this? I must be missing something, right?

The only way it lets me build is by just using the habitat borders and use the default wall/windows. Suffice to say, it creates very boring square visuals.

In settings there are a few options that help. In the game tab check disable scenery collision, check disable track collision and disable terrain collision. Also check that global vertical snapping is unchecked. That should help a bit.
When building be sure that flatten terrain is unchecked unless you are certain you want that to happen.
Most important is know it's a learning thing and those youtube clips are often the result of hours of work and trial and error, We should never compare our skills to those. It's often better to subscribe to a few workshop items and take them apart to see how things go together. So don't let it be a source of stress but rather a learning experience. In the end it's just a game and none of it really matters.
