Cant group grid pieces with scenery
I cannot join a collection of grid pieces and scenery pieces into a single group. Why? I never had an issue with this before. Am i missing something obvious?

Did you try using the multi-select tool (press i) and dragging it around the items you want to group together to get the GROUP option?

I am not finding any issues but sometimes after an update files can get corrupted, try doing a file integrity check on Steam

thank you but unfortunately that did not fix anything. I've noticed that that issue is not with joining scenery with grid pieces, but joining grid pieces with other grid pieces. Each grid piece I have was previously all joined together as a single group, and then I tried to ungroup them all. It seems now every piece exists as its own single group, and when I select more than one piece, the option to join them into a single is not present in the selection menu. Additionally it will not let me remove single pieces from the group they're in because you cannot remove a piece from a group that only has 1 piece apart of it. Surely this must be a bug, it would be idiotic for me to be unable to join seperately placed building pieces to a single group

Well you failed to mention THAT in your original post, so you had grid pieces in a group and for some reason you used the 'SPLIT GROUP' option and now you want to join them back together? Also you say you cannot remove a single piece from the group they're in because it only has one piece as a part of it....................which makes no sense at all.
Unfortunately using the 'SPLIT GROUP' or the 'SPLIT FROM GROUP' function has the effect of PERMANENTLY splitting items and regrouping them is not an option.
I don't know what the structure was that you broke into pieces but you may have to start again from scratch if you need to make changes to it or, if you just need to move it, use the multi select tool to move all the pieces.

I see, thank you. Then if I wanted to remove all pieces from a group without permanently splitting them how would I go about doing that? It seems like a oversight that I can ungroup all pieces of a group and have the effect of permanently separating them and cannot group them again. What is the purpose of having it this way? This is even worse because grouping functions cannot be un-done via ctrl+z so when I split the group it truly is permanent
If you want to remove all the pieces from a group you can delete them, CTRL+right click to select each one then hit the DEL key, I really don't understand what you are trying to do TBH because if you remove ALL the pieces from a group the group will cease to exist, you are just not making sense.

I mean to remove all the pieces without deleting them, and so that no group exists anymore. I do this because if you select two seperate groups you cannot join them together into a single group. So, I would ungroup everything, so that it did not belong to a group, and then regroup everything into a single group. With this new update, it will no longer let me do this. I have only 130 hrs, but all 130 have been building a single franchise park. Nearly every building I have built in this park I have done in the same manner I am describing, yet I do no recall ever running into this issue before
In the screenshot below there is a PZ BP which is obviously in a group of items on a grid, in the middle of it I placed some scenery pieces made into a crate also in its own group, I then used the multi select tool around all the items and now have the option to make them into ONE group, as you can see it says there are a total of 2 objects (in this case 2 groups)

So it seems to resolve your problem that ' if you select two seperate groups you cannot join them together into a single group'
Maybe a screenshot showing your EXACT problem might clarify your situation better if this does not solve it.

Perhaps this will show you better my issue. Notice the absence of a "merge scenery into group" button.
I have no idea why you are not getting the group option, if you don't have any mods installed that could cause this then you need to contact Frontier or maybe try re-installing - sorry mate

Also this might be useful

You can't group grid pieces, the only way to have them in a group is if you build them in a group to start with, once split you can't regroup them
