Inaccessible Hot Water Faucet and bathing behavior.
How do I position the Hot Water Faucet so that it is accessible and the Japanese/Snow Monkeys and Capybaras use it? And how do I get them to demonstrate bathing behavior?

It's a hot water faucet, and the bathing behavior takes place inside the water, so I thought that obviously the faucet should be put inside the water to put the two together, but even though the water being completely inside the area where the Japanese Monkeys can walk perfectly well, and have already walked, says the faucet is inaccessible. They also do not demonstrate bathing behavior.

I don't know what else I do for them to demonstrate bathing behavior and for the faucet to be accessible.

From the patch notes when bathing behavior was added is this note under the flatten to terrace brush: "If checked, the 'Shallow Pool Offset' setting indents the terrain slightly below the next level of the voxel terrain, which can then be filled to create wading-height water features for animals (we recommend using this mode to create areas for Japanese Macaques and Capybaras to bathe in!)"

Also this info: "Animals can bathe in any pool that is shallow enough for them to walk in, that is being heated by a water temperature regulator"

Those hot water faucets can be tricky to place. They aren't accessible in the middle of the water, for some reason. I place them at an outside edge of the pool, so the base is just barely in the water. That's the only way I can get them to be accessible anyway.

Accessible for who? Don't think the monkeys are going to use it, so I'm confused a little. Does the game mean the mechanics, maybe? They don't need a path to it, do they? Wouldn't make any sense!

Macaques actually sit under the tap if it's accessible.

Audiolady, we are talking about the hot water faucet enrichment item being accessible by the animals. I went into my franchise zoo to take a pic of the heat map for you to show the enrichment item showed as inaccessible in the middle of the terrace tool created pond, only to find they have apparently fixed this issue in the most recent update. I don't see the fix listed in the patch notes but it is fixed in my game. Good timing on your question Thor II. It might have taken me much longer to notice, if you hadn't asked about it. Screenshot to show item in middle of pond and Capybara using it included in post. I do have a water temp regulator for this pool.

Normally when placing an object the game will say if it cannot be placed somewhere. Many things need space around them so the animals can interact with them. As to bathing. Add a pond or lake to any habitat and almost every creature will swim in it! As long as they can get in and out. Gentle slopes are required.

I tested it after seeing your post and it works with the Capybara only, with the Japanese Monkey still does not work, even with the Japanese Monkey pond being much larger. You can test, if something has been fixed, it has been fixed only for Capybara.

My apologies Thor II for assuming that since this is fixed for the Capybara that it would be for the Macaques too. It makes no sense to fix for one and not the other, but since I didn't have any Macaques in that franchise zoo, I did only try with the Capybara.

I've now tried to place the item in a Macaque habitat in a sandbox zoo and it does not show it to be accessible. I came back to post my results matched yours but now wonder if I should have left it placed for a while to see if maybe the issue is just visual and they may use it after all. I mention that because I'm seeing the Submarine Buoy show as inaccessible now, if placed at the bottom of water. However, the animals still use it, so the buoy is working even showing as inaccessible.

I think I'll put the faucet back and just see what happens with time. However, I don't really expect it to work. I have a feeling this is somehow tied to a past update that caused Macaques to no longer recognize any water as traversable, if deeper than wading depth. Leastwise, I can't get any body of water to work for them unless I use that Terrace tool, although I feel pretty sure a more experienced terrain sculptor may be able to.

We can manipulate the terrain to be 1/4 meter below water level using a roof tile and snap to height option in settings. Begin by enabling vertical snapping and and placing a roof tile in the general area of your planned water area. Next disable vertical snapping then enter build mode on the roof piece and lower it 3/4 meter. From there we can level the terrain to just cover the top of the roof piece and add water. Presto, you have 1/4 meter deep water!

Grampers 62 to the rescue...again! :D

That method allows for more freedom to make interesting shapes in the terrain.
