A new terrain texture brush.
How many of you would like a new terrain paint brush that we could select two or three textures from the existing choices, set a percentage for each and use it like the auto paint feature? This would allow players to paint a complex terrain texture without needing to go over an area multiple times with different textures.

I'm not sure I'd ever paint a large area with a consistent terrain distribution though. I would usually be making it rockier on the hills etc.. Surely if you're painting 33% grass, 33% soil, 33% rock, it's just a new terrain? Have I misunderstood what you're suggesting?

That's why it would be like a brush so that we could selectively paint areas. Mainly to aid in creating the terrain in habitats but useful for large open areas as well. It would be cool if it could auto paint steep slopes with another set in one pass though, but that's a bit involved.

I use mixed terrain for 90% of the terrain that I paint, it just looks nicer imo, but I don't know that a brush with pre-mixed settings would be something that I'd use every often. What makes mixed terrain look nicer is that it's not all "identical" and having the same exact percentages across a larger area would, effectively, make it all "identical".

Then again, it would be useful to get just the core terrain down, in a larger area, and then you could go through and use other brushes in finer areas to make it look better. So maybe I would find a use for it.

If they are going to add new brushes, I'd much prefer that they add a vegetation brush, where you set the plants and plant density you want, and then painting with the brush fills in the area with randomized rotation of all the selected plants at the selected density.

Exactly Jaggid. This would be simply using the assets in the game to get a good start. Anyone that's made a desert zoo will know just how agonizing it can be to paint the entire map with something other than auto paint which for some reason paints the dessert in lush grass and that too small scale rock texture.
But yeah, a scenery brush would be fabulous provided players could create a selection to paint.

I think it's a great idea grampers. How does the "auto-paint" work, does that give any relief to this?

Auto paint uses the basic long grass texture for flat areas and the rock texture for surfaces above a set angle. With my concept this would still work the same just allowing the player to choose which textures are used and setting a mix of textures if desired.

I just use whatever the animals' habitat needs are.

I think it would work if you could choose which terrain to use on the mixed terrain brush as you mentioned.
