The main benefit with a PC is they can be almost infinitely upgraded. Problem running recent games? Upgrade the Innards of the PC. No having to wait years for an upgraded console to come out. The games that run on the existing one using tech that's years old.
But it's always been the same. Some games will only run on consoles and some only run on PCs. Want to play a specific game that will only run on a PC. Buy a PC, or tough! Ditto with consoles.
One of my sons has a PS 4 Pro, a Switch, and a PC that cost him £2,500 to build! Not all bought at once of course, over many years. (No Xbox for some reason!) But it's the only real way to be able to play whatever you want.
