I think it's only mordern zoo game on the market right now so you don't have much choices ၊😅

Is it actually a good game though?

Well I like it but it leans more on creative building / sandbox game play then story and management aspects but that's not to say they are not there

If you like animals or like creating things the game might be good for you. Within the game there exists many game types that allow the player to choose how they want to play. from the hard mode in franchise that can really focus on management, to the easy sandbox where players can turn off all the management and just make something that makes them happy.

Very worth it if you like the type of game. It's my favorite game to play for the genre that it is, and has been for all the years since it was released.

It does take a bit of getting used to though, as some of the functionality and UI is a little 'wonky' (just mho). So if you are someone who lacks patience for that sort of thing, and/or who doesn't like to watch youtube videos to learn more advanced ways of doing things in a game, you might not enjoy it.
Once you get over that learning hump though, just mho, the game is an absolute joy. Question is just a matter of whether you are willing to invest the time to get over that hump in the first place.

It's not just your opinion-it IS wonky! But I think some of those quirks are why I love it! I love posting screenshots of animals stuck in walls, and people standing in donation bins.:LaughingGuest:

If you are no bitten by the "must have this game" bug as soon as you read the descriptions and watched the videos on the games product page, I would suggest going onto Youtube and watching some of the videos to get a "feel" for what the game offers. Don't be put off by the level of complexity of the creators. You can make a perfectly presentable functional and enjoyable zoo just from the included content already within the game. If you are unsure you could try just the base game it contains tons of content to try out.

If you get the game I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Don't forget if you need help or advice with the game (if you buy it) the community here is very friendly and helpful.

Merry Christmas :2015holly:

I agree with the suggestion that you should feel it out with more videos if you are not immediately sure. Is it good? Yes, but keep in mind you are talking to a forum full of regular players. We like something about the game or we would not be here.

1) The graphics are good, but happily beat up your PC;
2) the animal animations and general appearances in particular are great;
3) they limit paid DLC to species/building pieces and new mechanics to free updates so no DLC is strictly necessary;
4) the building allows for a lot of freedom to look certain ways, less so in how they function (for example removing or having multiple habitat doors makes the habitat unplayable);
5) the building takes some getting used to, although a huge part of my personal learning curve has been removed thanks to the addition of the bulldoze tool;
6) everything management wise relies on the pathing of your zoo employees (want to feed your animals? You cannot, you tell your employees to and your job is to make it optimal enough that they can);
7) Planet Zoo has a pretty strict focus on conservation and breeding for the sake of conservation, meaning do not expect to have chaotic freedom or to deviate much from a proper, respectable zoo set up;
8) there are four modes to play: an internet dependent franchise, a single player freeform challenge, sandbox, and career scenarios;
9) animals are divided into habitat and exhibit species, each treated differently, but super simplified you have the least freedom with exhibit species.

I think those are all the main points I would really mention about PZ. The rest is going to have to be a judgement call, and looking more into the game in action through videos certainly would not hurt.

I always hated management games, they were stressful and I was always more of a sandbox building kinda person. I played a little bit of planet coaster because I got it for free, but i hated it. So I was fully intent on avoiding this one, but i decided to try it recently and I have absolutely fallen in love with it. its 100% worth playing if you just wanna chill out and build some stuff. It has an insane amount of customization which makes building so much fun. :Cleaning:

It is worth it! It is a little overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of how to manage everything it is so fun to create! I do love how Frontier keeps realistic facts about the animals and their behavior. They also keep adding more animals to the game!

I love the animals, and letting my imagination, both twisted and "normal", run free in designing things is a bonus to me! Just look at the workshop, if you doubt my imagination is too strong! Then create something, anything, to show off!

Add it to your wishlist and wait for a good sale.
