animal sick, stuck in trade center
This seems like a new error that I've never encountered in the past....

Sable Antelope got Avian Flu and was moved to Quarantine by Vet. Animal warnings start showing up saying he is sick enough to die, nothing else happens for a while so I move the animal to trade center. Now the animal has been stuck in trade center sick for days, can't move him anywhere and animal warnings won't go away.

I then decided just to try getting it to resolve without firing anyone, so I restarted it and this time all I did was hire a couple more vets and tell the game to move the antelope to quarantine. One of the new vets did the job, without a hitch.

This led me to looking at your work zones, because I realized that the vets I hired which worked I did not assign to any work zones. The problem is that you don't have the trade centers in the vet work zones, Turns out addressing that was all that was needed to resolve the issue.

Add trade centers to the vet work zones and instruct them to move the antelope to quarantine (you can't move directly to vet surgery), and you're antelope will be treated.

While caretakers don't need trade centers in their work zones to move animals around, Vets do if you want them to move animals to the Vet surgery to be treated (vet surgery buildings and quarantines should also be in their work zones, obviously). It's the Vets that do the job of moving animals when an animal is sick.

The vet should have taken the animal to the Vet Surgery facility, not quarantine. Do you have a Vet Surgery placed in the zoo?

yes, I have vet surgery placed but this animal is just stuck

The return to habitat option should be available for it in the trade center. Often sick animals have trade, move and release locked. You might also be able to move the animal from the animals tab in the zoo overview.

I have tried the "return to habitat option" and from "zoo overview"

Game says animal is being moved but it just stays in the trade center and it still sick. I cancel move and delete/undelete habitats, paths, etc....no change and constant animal alert won't go away

so, hopefully the animal dies soon, my zoo is set to 2x slower aging so it might take a while

oh well, the game is working pretty good otherwise

FWIW, I have updated the game, set-up a couple of guided tours, put in two walk-through exhibits and that same Sabre Antelope is still stuck sick in the trade center and won't die.

I tried deleting both trade centers, deleting the habitat and more but the animal alert won't go away and the animal is stuck in limbo.

The zoo is on the workshop if anyone wants to try to get rid of him.

Cool, thanks for tracking all that down, I was perplexed. I did not realize vets had to be assigned to trade center, that makes sense, thank you.

Normally it's not a big deal if you don't have vets assigned to a trade center, because normally sick animals don't get sent there.

THe normal flow would be either: Habitat->Vet Surgery->back to habitat
Or, if it's a new animal, the game doesn't know it's sick yet, so Caretakers take it from Trade Center -> quarantine and then it gets discovered it's sick, so the vets do Quarantine->Vet Surgery.

The only time an animal in the Trade Center is known to be sick is if you, the player, sent them there. And that's when Vets will need it in their workzone.

Sorry for the long-winded post on it I just felt it was good to explain why you can often get away with not assigning the trade centers to Vet work zones. It doesn't come up often that they need it to be.
I still always do it, because when it does come up, it can take a bit before you realize why the sick animal isn't getting moved.

That is interesting. I don't actually have vet's surgeries or quarantines in every zone. The vets will normally take animals to the nearest one no matter if they are not in the zone the sheds are in. One recent problem I have seen is new animal deliveries being Abandoned for no given reason. They just sit boxed outside a Trade Centre. Cancelling the delivery, then clicking on the box to instruct delivery will get it delivered. Very strange.

I usually don't have vets assigned to a work zone. Most zoos, even really big ones, don't need more than 2 vets to cover the entire zoo because you don't have sick animals often (if at all) if your zoo is designed well. Especially in franchise mode, because animals bought from other players also never enter the zoo sick, and having all of the diseases fully researched further reduces illnesses.

When they aren't in work zones, issues like this don't happen. They will service everything.

This seems correct, and I have noticed if a facility is assigned to a work zone only staff assigned to that work zone will use it. Seems to be universal for all type staff and facilities/habitats with the exception that vets will attend habitats they are not specifically assigned to, likewise caretakers delivering animals. So it makes sense the snafu with the workzone the OP had. I don't normally assign vets workzones either so I have not experienced the issue and also normally do not see a need for more than three untrained vets. Would have to experiment and see if I can duplicate it and see if it was a one-off glitch, but I expect it's all normal.

Just for clarity of other readers, it was me sending the sick animal to the trade center that created the problem. There were no Vets assigned to the trade centers to take a sick animal back out.

The reason I sent the animal to the trade center is that he seemed stuck in the quarantine for too long a time. Maybe I should have just waited longer, anyways, Jahi had very low welfare but he is healed and is now released to the wild.

Thanks and happy Zooing
