Should I wait to play till after I purchase all of the DLC?
Should I wait to play till after I purchase all of the DLC? I am mostly interested in the campaign, but want a more full experience if the DLC can be used within it. Thoughts?

Not completely sure, but I think you have to finish the scenario on gold before you can use the DLC, then you need to research parts of it.

the scenario as in the campaign? does that mean I can't even use the content within that campaign?
(I haven't played a game like this since the original zoo tycoon)

The campaign is just in the base game so you don't need DLC's to play it. There are timed scenarios that comes with some, if not all, the DLC's, The only extra thing they offer is scenery pieces and wall sets so it's not needed to play the game. There are statues that you get by completing the entire campaign at Gold level.

I assume this is the case also for Jurassic World Evolution? (I looked at your profile and had the same question about that game.)

The dino packs are just dinosaurs.
The bigger ones have mini-campaigns. Plus more dinosaurs. I think they also unlock challenge mode missions.

The game is much easier (when you start) if you have the dino packs. But they are not needed at all. I didn't. I played through the entire thing with only the base game.

Heaven's no, you most certainly don't need DLC to enjoy the game. BTW, start with the career scenarios since those briefly present the controls of the game.

Nope, don't wait! There is plenty to do with the base game, but all the DLC add nice stuff--all optional. I have been playing since the game came out, adding DLC as they came along, which probably helped some with the costs. But as game DLC go, these have a lot of bang for the buck and don't feel too expensive.

I started out with the "Deluxe" pack and have not been sorry. Aquatic Pack added lots of very useful stuff and a much needed dimension to the zoos. European and Conservation packs have been excellent as well for building purposes. I'm sure everyone has their favorites. :)

Just remember, in Franchise and non-sandbox modes, you have to have your mechanics research the DLC before those pieces show up for construction. Ditto animals and vet research.
