Animals Not Breeding
Edit1: I forgot to mention, but I am also having trouble with my Timber and Artic wolves...they are supposed to breed every 12 months so every 1.0 year. But they don't, they wait the full 4 years for their first litter to grow. Not every 12 months, also since wolves are roughly 97% to 99% related to the Dog, don't their pups mature every 2 years like the dog and not every 4? Most wolves usually leave their pack before the age of 4.

I have noticed space also matters .. how large is your lion habitat ?

Also, looking at the zoopedia .. animals mature in 3 years ... that is 36 months. Which means the time between pregnancies literally is close to when the previous brood have grown to adulthood. Give or take a few months.

The first 3 years could be due to her being traded out after her last pregnancy if you bought this from another player.

I see no problem here.
36 months = 3 years ( 12 x 3 )
So your female lion is waiting just the right amount of time. She breeds every 36 months ( every 3 years ).
She just wait for her cubs to grow so they can be able to live by themselves.
As Brasiel stated your initial math was off.

That being said, you are right that in the wild if all of a lioness' cubs are gone it restarts her breeding cycles (which is why infanticide by invading or conquering male lions is one of the more common deaths for young lion cubs.) So it makes sense that moving the lion mother and cubs to separate parts of the zoo would speed up her breeding cycles.

But frankly this is a game, and the developers would have to build in that system. I am not surprised that it was not included.

I'm sorry. I just noticed my math was wrong, it is every 3 years. I don't use Franchise I mainly play sandbox about 95% of the time. I am currently trying to get a white/albino Lion and still no luck. I was also wondering if there is any tips with the Genetics, mating, or Geneology? I have inbred roughly 5 to 7 generations worth of Lions as some have said inbreeding works but all that's done is increase my litter size from 1 to either twins or triplets sometimes.

My exhibit is roughly 10 miles^2. So its not small but its decently big.

Inbreeding does not increase your chances of an albino, and it puts your animals at a disadvantage gene wise. Albino animals are very rare, you just have to keep trying until you get one. https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetZoo/comments/e9jt3s/the_complete_albinowhite_animal_breeding_guide/
Check out this guide, it will give you a better idea on how to get more albinos. The key is to get an albino gene carrier but you can always buy off the marketplace if you have enough conservation points saved up.

I'm still investigating the new genetics visibility levels to see if the same gene blocks trigger the same visuals ( skin coloring, patterns etc ) and certain illness susceptibilities. And whether relatedness is less of a factor for inbreeding than the gene blocks themselves. Unfortunately we can only see 2 of the 4 gene strings so some things may not be easy to track by genes.

I have noticed that my animals dont breed quite as often as they used to as well.

The link does help but it seems to only work if I use franchise mode which I did state I use Sandbox 95% to 97% of the time. So unless I use franchise it may not work.
I've also noticed a issue with Franchise, I bought a Albino male Lion, a Albino female warthog, and a Regular male warthog but they never showed up in my trade center like i bought them so I Lost all my CC.

Ah, there is a lower rate of success with sandbox gaining *rare* animals. People have said they have managed it but it has taken several generations of breeding before it happened. Until the trigger ( if one exists ) is known it could take days/weeks/months of game play on sandbox to achieve it.

There is an issue report for it: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/14048
