Interface broken

the user interface has disappeared. I can no longer open windows. So I can't build or edit exhibits, create new buildings, hire staff or view the existing animals in the zoo or buy new ones in the trade center...

I can actually only scroll across the meadow and enjoy the view.

Save works. But neither loading nor exiting the game.

I tried reinstalling the game, don't use mods. The game files are checked several times for errors.

I'm running out of ideas

It sounds like interface scale has been changed in settings. Check that and if the game is running in windowed mode.

the interface is partially visible. For example, when I go to "Zoo", the bar on the left opens and I see the different tabs with Finance, Animals, Staff, Shops, etc. But I can't open any of them.

I can save the game but can't load another save or go back to the main menu or exit the game. I need the task manager for this

after 5 restarts I was able to open the tab with the employees and hire staff right after loading.

after that nothing worked again. And I could neither open another tab nor open the one with the staff a second time

When you start the game, before you open a zoo, do you see the settings icon in the top right? if yes, open settings and set interface scale to a smaller number. Also while you are there set the screen to full screen or windowed full screen.
If you do not see the settings icon try pressing alt+enter to change the window to full screen. Then set the screen settings.

ok. I set it from 100% to 70%. Now everything is small and I need glases but the problem is the same.
Full screen was the setting. Windowed full screen doesnt makes a difference either

On this screenshot you can see that the important part of the window is not displayed.

The list of animals for sale should actually be there. but this part does not open. Only the left frame appears.

The same applies to the other menus.

Not sure what is going on... the menus not appearing is not a normal issue.
Perhaps verify game files through steam library to see if anything is bad there.

I've already done that several times.

Also, I completely removed and reinstalled the game before posting my question here.

[And first I removed all mods and restarted with fresh zoos to test it. Sandbox, franchise, challenge...]

I haven't changed anything. From one day to the next the game is no longer usable

Be certain that java is up to date along with C and C++ runtimes. VB runtime might need updating as well but if your playing it;s not so likely excepting for mods.
Also the language being used in the might be an issue but others seem to be fine using default language.

Java is not installed - but planet zoo ran without it before

I checked C++ runtime and VB runtime and supposedly updated c++. Hm. Does not change anything

but it occurs to me that the day before yesterday, before the problems began, I emptied the history of windows quick access - even if I see no connection

It does point to something that the program needs that is not active on your computer.
Have you tried running the game as administrator? windows permissions and such for games is a bit weird lately.

The game does use a version of java extensively.

That does not make sense

I didn't delete any programs or drivers, I just emptied the cache because the computer had become very slow

and about java: when windows 10 was installed on this machine, java was intentionally not installed and i played planet zoo for over 400 hours before the problems started

Update:
Java was not the problem
and I used several diagnostic tools to check the windows installation for errors. that doesn't change anything either

right after loading the zoo I can open "zoo" or "paths" or "terrain" and use it. As soon as I clicked a button between "barriers" - "blueprint" the windows are broken

Sorry I have no good solution for you. It gets difficult to help diagnose an issue that one has never seen before. Not sure others have seen it either.

It's time to submit a bug report to frontier i think. Be sure to describe the issue as clearly as possible with as much detail as you can. I think the key phrase is "disappearing menus".
