It's not as cool, but it's the only way I have found to keep animals from escaping while still allowing them to cross-over like what you appear to want.
I dream of the day Frontier actually fixes both climbing and swimming animations so that they don't allow animals to escape through things they shouldn't, but until...if ever...that day comes, we must endure.
Oh yes, i totally understand. I usually avoid monkeys in my zoo because of the buggy climbing animations.
Okey thank you, ill try that out. But its quite disappointing because its so much more realistic.
You could build a glass tunnel and then attach mesh to the outside.
Okey thats a good idea didnt think of it, thanks!
I managed to get a screenshot : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2835135627
No i am currently only using glass
It looks like the opening to the tunnel is flush to your wall. As Jaggid Edje said it is better to have the tunnel stick out further. However, if you want to keep the current look there is
something you can try. Add a climbing piece, same as you have going up to the tunnel entrance, along the bottom of the glass in the tunnel. Have this continue to the piece you use for the exit at the other end. That might make for less confusing decisions for the AI.
If that does not work, then extend your tunnel entrances/exits further out from the wall.
Let us know how it goes. Good luck. :)
I can attest that this (usually) works; I have several tunnel-bridges similar to what is shown in the OP in my zoos using that method without any escape problems.
The tunnel is also sticking out a bit further , i reworked this after the screenshot, but still they walk through the wall and are "escaping"
