Monkeys ignoring walls
So i build some kind of tunnel for my monkeys to enter the other part of the enclosure (check screenshot). So apparently they glitch into the floor stuck in climbing animation while moving into the part. Just like passing the tunnel. They are completely ignoring walls, glitching through them. Any solutions?

Yes i checked the passable areas via heatmap.

Sadly, climbing is glitchy as heck when it comes to animals being able to escape. What I do for that sort of thing which you have pictured is build it with non-climbable, impassible construction pieces and have the part where they climb up to farther away.
It's not as cool, but it's the only way I have found to keep animals from escaping while still allowing them to cross-over like what you appear to want.

I dream of the day Frontier actually fixes both climbing and swimming animations so that they don't allow animals to escape through things they shouldn't, but until...if ever...that day comes, we must endure.

Can you post a screen shot of them doing it?

Of course, I can try to capture them

Oh yes, i totally understand. I usually avoid monkeys in my zoo because of the buggy climbing animations.

I spoke recently with another player having trouble with the wire mesh scenery objects. It does seem that they behave more like plants for blocking animals movements rather than like walls. Smaller species seem to be able to pass through and climbing animals will climb and glitch through them. But medium and large animals are blocked by them. The issue is more pronounced where two sections meet and in places where they form an angle. I've only done a few experiments into the issue but find using glass works much better.

Okey thank you, ill try that out. But its quite disappointing because its so much more realistic.

You could build a glass tunnel and then attach mesh to the outside.

UPDATE: Replaced the scenery with glass. The monkeys are still glitching out of the enclosure

Interesting.... Are you still using the metal parts that are climbable?

It looks like the opening to the tunnel is flush to your wall. As Jaggid Edje said it is better to have the tunnel stick out further. However, if you want to keep the current look there is
something you can try. Add a climbing piece, same as you have going up to the tunnel entrance, along the bottom of the glass in the tunnel. Have this continue to the piece you use for the exit at the other end. That might make for less confusing decisions for the AI.

If that does not work, then extend your tunnel entrances/exits further out from the wall.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck. :)

I can attest that this (usually) works; I have several tunnel-bridges similar to what is shown in the OP in my zoos using that method without any escape problems.

I think the guys are on the right track with this one. Things do sometimes go less well where vertical meets horizontal.

Thanks guys for all your tips! I tried to rework it with them. But sadly i have the same problem. Here is a screenshot, any ideas whats wrong?

The tunnel is also sticking out a bit further , i reworked this after the screenshot, but still they walk through the wall and are "escaping"
