A heart is one such symbol. It has an alt-code of 3, which means even when using a standard font, you can put in a heart by hit alt-NumPad3 in most text entry programs and apps.
In planet Zoo, unfortunately, you cannot use alt-codes for entry. HOWEVER, you can copy it to the clipboard from an app that does, then copy this into the game and paste it with Control V most places that text entry is allowed. Because PZ does support control-V for pasting in most of its text entry fields.
An example of an app that supports alt-codes is your web browser. Here's the hearts produced by the font used in the forum when hitting alt-NumPad3. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Be advised that whether a symbol actually shows up properly when pasted depends entirely on what font the game uses. I don't think the PZ Font actually supports the heart, though it does support quite a few other symbols (I use the infinity symbol a lot to mark animals I plan to sell). EDIT: I just tested it, and the heart symbol does not paste into the game, so the game's fonts dont' support it.
Symbols which I have used successfully in the game include Infinity, Degrees, alpha, Omega, Pi, Epsilon, Mu, Theta, Upper and Lowercase Sigma, Upper and Lowercase Phi, Delta, Sum, and Registered Trademark.
Please be aware, if you want to place several hearts (or any other alt-code symbol) in a row, you have to hit alt-NumPad3, then release BOTH keys, before hitting them again.
