Predation attacks suck.
Okay. I REALLY love this game before you call me a hater. But predator attacks suck. Instead of hunting animations for each animal and them being able to take on prey 2x Their size And being able to defend themselves (Like in Jurassic world evolution and the second one. Which is made by frontier) They just pounce on the prey and kill it. Which is unrealistic in some animals (Like the timber wolf. Wild dogs. etc.) Where they bring down their prey instead of pouncing on it. (By biting it and trying to weaken it) And sometimes the prey would defend itself and its offspring. BUTTT in this game they just let their offspring die and don't do anything. They just have to outrun the predator and hope they don't make a fatal mistake. And you have to scale the prey before putting them in the same habitat with a predator to make sure they can hunt it (Disappointed me when I tried making my timber wolves hunt moose and bison). Plus they just make it where they hunt them for sport instead of food. Which is boring and ruins the chance to make an ecosystem when they mass kill their prey.

Thank you for coming to my PZ predation rant

You do understand that the major of players do not add predators and prey in the same habitat. There is a small minor that likes to see this.

The game is more about breeding and creating rather than killing. The predation bit seems to be just a second thought to cover what happens if a player places the wrong species together. Perhaps just to discourage the mixing of carnivores.

It's a game about... building a zoo.... F*ck off with your "I want real predation graphics" in the game. FFS...

Not sure what type of zoo the OP has visited previously where they put predator and prey in the same enclosure. Worst thread i have seen so far

this is also something that disappointed me, it'd be cool if they let us be able to have a whole national park type thing (at least in sandbox) i used to do it in ZT2 (even if the hunting was a smoke cloud, the predators seemed to hunt for food) and its fun in the JP games too, would be fun to have a modern zoo game which also allows you to do this and the animals have realistic fighting/hunting animations, honestly, it'd make them feel even more alive

*sigh* It's sad to see the thread turned to this, but what they said is somewhat true. Our creativity beyond building (and even with it, you cannot have a second door due to NPC pathing issues for example) was ham-stringed due to a strict conservation focus. They didn't leave much room for a sandbox in the gameplay, just the appearance. So yeah, things like that aren't detailed. Systems are cumbersome (no dropping a keeper in an exhibit and them just being able to stay there or navigate around it if there is water).

As much as a I love PZ, it takes itself too seriously and leans too much into the cumbersome side of realism. A true sandbox can have an optimal way to play, but not a right one and PZ most definitely has a right way to play as 2022.
