enrichment toys
From my point of view, something doesn't add up. Let me set an example Tortoise and Bison.

For tortoise, all research done you get 3 enrichment toys, and they get bored with them pretty quickly, so to keep them above 80% satisfied is very difficult and impossible.

As for Bison you get about 8 of toys, so it's quite easy to change from one to another until they are not fed up with the ones they have int their habitat, so my bison are always at 100% of their satisfaction with food and toys.

I understand the mechanic, it's just that it will not work with so few items at you disposal and it's time consuming in a boring way. The solution? I intend to sell all my tortoises which are bringing my zoo down through no fault of mine with all the time I spent on them. But really? add 3 other species toys, for those poor animals that were awarded 3 at most, doesn't fell like a very difficult or game breaking thing to do. It's just common sense really.

It's quite frustrating because for simple matter of what is at your disposal, you can't do anything about it

This is definitely one of the features that i hate the most (beside the pathing). It gets more frustrating when you have lots of primates in your zoo

Yeah it should definitely have some sort of proportional thing where (less toys work on that species=it takes way longer for that species to get bored with them). Hell I'd rather have "toy spots" and have it be a job for the vet or keeper to manage which toys go there. I really have no interest in such a minute detail.

The constant attention that enrichment items need was also a pain in the ass on Zoo Tycoon.

With your question though.... could it be that the tortoise has more of another enrichment which would help it?

I haven’t noticed a problem. I usually put one of each toy to start with but reset them separately.

Yes I do that too but with only 3 enrichment and them getting so quickly bored it's almost all the time they are just about 79 or 70 and it is really a slow down, They are 16 now I can't wait for them to be 25 and get rid of them all if only they more than 3 toys it wouldn't be so punishing!

Tortoise also have large, frequent clutches of offspring and the more animals in a habitat, the less each item satisfies their %. When the % drops due to increase in population, you can make them happier with duplicates of the same items to a certain point. The easiest way to keep them above 93% wellness is to keep a small number of them (3) max either same sex of birth controlled. There are more than three enrichment items though, balls, sprinklers, frozen fruit blocks, fruit tree, and dog balls, I think I'm spacing on some toy items and theirs even more with DLC

OMG I have to wait till they turn 25 to trade them? I have a billion of the little buggers!

I NEVER switch any enrichment toys in any habitat. I put in what is unlocked and leave it that way forever. Toy enrichment is naturally not maxed out in my animals, but I never noticed any drawbacks with that. With best habitat conditions, best food options and food enrichment the welfare is still great. No complains from animals or guests. Or do I miss something here?

This is my experience.I may add a toy already there when the group enlarges and that seems to work for me.

Who buys animals without checking the maturity age? I ask because if you're not checking the maturity age then you also haven't seen what the ideal group size is or how many females each male will need in the hab.

Yes they are quite fertile! I always put them on contraceptives as soon as babies are born. I sold the parent immediately but they produced 6 little offspring and yes you've got to wait until they are 25 to get rid of them! They are all on contraceptive right now even if they can't have babies yet! Yes you could leave them be with obsolete toys, but for some stupid reason, I pride myself for never having any protesters, I know it's childish and stupid but....
