This is only partly true. Of course, if I had a very weak PC, the game would work worse, this is logical.
But people on top configurations (RTX 3xxx, top Intel i7 and i9) have a similar problem: after 7000-8000 guests, the fps drops below 15, sometimes below 10.
An example of a good optimization is the Cities Skylines, which does not slow down for me when I reach 150k citizens, each of which has three route points (home, work, leisure), a choice of which transport to use, which road to take, which traffic jam to stand in. That is, there should be much more processor calculations than in the Planet Zoo. But the Planet Zoo slows down, and Cities Skylines do not.
So I'm pretty sure it's an optimization issue.
The navigation for the guests and animals in Planet Zoo (as I understand it) is constantly changing.
But, whatever.
Maybe you are right. Maybe this is part of the problem, so in Zoo we have more calculations than in Skylines.
In one of the posts on reddit, someone wrote that if there are a lot of people and the roads are narrow, crowds of people greatly reduce the fps. But alas, I don’t have such a problem, everywhere there are wide roads and there are almost no large crowds of people.
I hope the developers someday optimize this moment, and people will be able to build huge zoos, just like in real life. :(
