Planet Zoo
Need inspiration/ideas!
I haven't played Planet Zoo in a while and wanted to get back in it again. I have many ideas but have no idea where to start!

1. I really like the idea of a tropical theme.
Any name ideas and layout organization ideas?

2. Anyone have any real-life examples of zoos or habitats that have good tropical/rainforest themed habitats and facilities?

3. What are some cool guest, staff and animal facilities I could include?
I have thought of gift shops, restaurants, an education center, reptile house, and research centre.
(I can't think of that many animal or staff facilities.)

Sorry for so many requests but I need some semblance of organization. I also have a hard time being in love with my creations and I really want to make a Zoo that will last awhile and that I can put a lot of effort into.

Thanks!

You were shipwrecked on an island and you decided to build a zoo there.

Indeed and everything was overgrown in a swampy forest.
Basically everything is green

Google Tropical peat swamp forests

That is how it should look like

Picture a lagoon in the middle with several flat areas as you go up the volcano.

Now we are just confusing the OP :rufusserious:

A serious advice.

Look at pictures from real life scenes (habitats/etc) and then gain inspiration from that.
Yes, What Darkie said. I go into google and take some tours in real zoos to get some inspiration. Not all will allow it but there are some that post pictures and videos.

I dunno, it sounds like a pretty cool zoo idea to me, to be honest. It's just too bad we have no way of doing a custom terrain map outside of the zoo bounds to surround it with water to make it actually look like an island.
We really do need a seascape background in Planet Zoo AND Planet Coaster.

Well..

You could remove the guest spawners at the "entrence" and then make a large water section, then put a ferry + guest spawner on it (it has one by default maybe right?) and then they start at the "Island" that you have put around the area.

I guess that could be a good idea, Island with a nice forest on it. maybe a project for next year.
It'd look funkie though, because you'd still see all the land right past it. One of the career scenarios is on an island, that one would work as a start but it's not tropical and it's a SUPER small map, unfortunately.
I really wish they'd let us use career/timed challenge maps as a starter for Franchise mode though, there are some very cool terrain and backdrops on some of them.

You could go full "cover" mode with tree´s etc. But yes.. you can´t make it "water" on the outside. Maybe that could be a suggestion for the official forum.

I don´t play career or challanges, they are not really my kinda thing. I mainly play Franchise mode.
If you have a desert island theme you should have no fences or barriers keeping the animals enclosed. Just use the landscape and nature to make it look more natural. I hate any fences in my zoos 😂
Thus the lagoon plan that would be as simple as a river that curved in toward the center of the area giving a coastal setup that isn't right on an ocean.

I have a few enclosures without fences, but it can also become "too much" unless there is a specific theme and not to many different animals around.. (I maybe often make them abit too large, the enclosures that is) and I am just really bad at making them look great.
What would go in a children's playground? There is no playground equipment1
Or is it just walkthrough habitats, and those funny looking education boards?

Easy things to make is a slide, swing, sandbox, etc.
If you are really cool you add a habitat near by with some fluffy animals for them to pet as well (petting zoo)

But it has to look like this
