Weather in Biomes / Continents
Okay, I tried finding answers, but haven't really gotten any. My PC can run up to 7000 visitors without a problem. I have a decent size of the map filled with decoration, habitats and whatnots. But the moment Rain starts, my PC is crying out loud and trying to hurt me for making it work hard. I usually go to Temperate Europe. But is there a Biome with no / less rain? I did have a Desert Zoo once, but it was raining almost all the time (maybe a bug?) and I do not want to go into the snowy areas.

Does it make a difference for example Temperate Asia compared to Temperate Europe? And yes I do know that I can deactive Weather in Sandbox, I simply don't enjoy Sanbox-Mode and prefer to stay in Franchise.

Sooo question: Has anyone observed less rain / weather depending on biome and continent and has a hot-tip where I should build my new zoo?

Biome and location do impact the weather in the game. I find it odd that you had a desert zoo where it rained a lot, because it's super rare in every desert zoo I've ever played in. Are you sure it wasn't grasslands (Savannah) rather than desert. Savannah zoos don't really get a "lot" of rain either, but still far more than the deserts.

I have a desert franchise zoo in Australia and it has yet to rain even once, I'm on game year 40 or so.

Edit to add: I typed all that and forgot to mention the main thing I had replied to suggest. Have you tried going into game settings-graphics and turning down Weather Effects to see if that helps?

In sandbox mode you can turn off rain and snow. I do because, yes, it's just one more thing to drain your PC performance as you get a larger zoo.

Yes, I also was very confused by the desert zoo, but like I said it might have been a bug as well. And I did try to play with the settings for weather effect. It got worse with lower settings to be honest haha. But I will give the desert a try again and see how long it takes to melt my guests under the heat (no coolers for you guys! they are expensive xD)

If you are not cooling your guests, hot levels make it easy to make a mint on drinks. 😉

LOL, yes, the lower setting actually make for worse performance for me as well. I assume it may be because one setting uses more CPU and the other more GPU or something like that.

BTW, as far as using coolers and the cost. If you power things with solar or wind the coolers cost absolutely nothing to run. Personally I generally still don't use coolers for visitors though, opting to instead make a killing selling drinks as @Livia stated. :)

I love it!:steamhappy:
Who knew Duran Duran was a good fight song?

I've been on a Duran kick in my mind for over a week now.
I can't remember any other group stuck in there that whole time.
The Reflex, New Moon On Monday, New Religion, Hungry Like The Wolf,
Hold Me, Vertigo (Do The Demolition), and A Matter of Feeling have all been circling my brain.

Can the graphic settings for weather be lowered? Never noticed but maybe?
