Birds need to lay eggs

I was expecting to see all the ostrich eggs or flamingos laying around and.......poof! It never happened, the babies just pop somewhere.....for such a realistic game...that is so not realistic

While i agree in whole heart, they might need to make another model. rig it and make new animations for it which takes time .p.

They say the reason they won't make eggs is because it's a lot of work for what is - in reality - a very short period of an animal's life, plus irl zoos often take the eggs to be artificially incubated to prevent damage to them (questionable but it is what it is). I can understand, but this does leave me with questions about our hopeful future flying birds. It would be immersion breaking to see tiny eagle chicks on the ground, so I think there would have to be a nesting mechanic or shelter where chicks would remain until fledging.

Birds not "nesting" is one of my biggest disappointments with the game. :-/

I totally understand their rationale for not including eggs and nesting, which someone else explained above, but still find it disappointing.

Yeah it would be pretty grim. I'm happy with a set of small - large nest "bedding" being added for baby birds, with the parents coming back and forth regularly to look after them. Be even better if they could build their own nests from given materials, but I'm not sure they'd put that much effort into coding that.

If we are talking about animals building their own shelters (nests, dams, etc.), their could be some kind of enrichments that they could use to build them. Like in ZT2, there are branches for the beavers to build lodges.

Or bodies in the water for those dam (spelled like that) sharks to build THEIR dam with!
