Joke aside, they can only swim through barriers and not walk through barriers, so you can still have Saltwater Crocodiles if their water is surrounded by a landmass.
Also sometimes animals in the new den (badger or aardvark) will suddenly wake up from a comfy snooze and glitch out on the other side of my zoo in the middle of nothingness and be declared escaped.
And bears/cats that climb will go up tall trees or get on elevated ride rails some how also be escaped.
Also the climbers will sometimes not be able to climb their setups at all the game stops recognizing their climbing structures entirely until you shift one bit/board even a tiny amount then the game recalculates - so like my jaguars have 1600 sq m of climbing and sometimes I load the game and reads 0 sq m in their welfare (and I get protesters! LOL)
I just accept these bugs pay the 1000 capture wait for the protesters to leave and move on. No amount of tinkering cures these totally but expanding null fences way out around water areas helped reduce it a lot.
A cookie to the first person to guess where that came from.
So be sure that the water area is large enough, especially the deep water, in length, width and depth to minimize those escapes.
XD
May we use those on the guests?? :D
