Platform Floats never work
No matter how large or deep I make the water, the platform always says it needs a larger area. Is this ever going to be fixed? Has anyone found a way to get it to work?

It works fine. When you place it look at it from above as all four bars need to be green. If even one bar is red, it will not work even though you might be able to put it in the water.

I can turn the ENTIRE zoo into a giant lake and it still stays red and doesn't work.

Do you have global vertical snapping active? And how deep is the water?

Make sure you have a habitate gate.I just had this happen and it came to me I had no habitae gate,duhhh,lol.
