Animal research without animal
Hello,
There is any way to do animal research without having an animal?

Nope, the vet needs to be able to visit the animal in a habitat or exhibit when researching. They go to the habitat/exhibit, then to the lab, back and forth, while researching.
This is why you will research much faster if you make sure to have a research center near the animals you are researching, so the vet doesn't waste time just walking between the two.

Not really bad, because there's perhaps little point researching animals you don't have.

Actually there is a point. If you want to use a habitat blueprint with enrichment items that are part of the blueprint you can't place it until you have researched the animal.
In this scenario you need to make a throwaway habitat to house them until you do the research. If you could research them first, you wouldn't need to waste the time with that.

Mind you, I agree with Frontier's approach that you shouldn't be able to research an animal without having the animal present for observation, etc. Just saying...there is a reason for wishing you could do the research first.

Ah, I only build my own habitats, so there's no point in me doing it. (I also only use the sandbox now).

This is why itas bad. On my example, i want build habitat for elephant that have items locked by animal research, so i must build cheap and simply habitat until i make research. I don't think that there is a zoo in the world that first adopt animal and then prepare for it. Sorry for my english

You can place an animal in a tiny habitat you create, then start research and then take it way again and delete the habitat.

I do that, but it doesn't have sense

I think the sense is, that you need to "known" and "observe" the animal in its habitat, before you can research... It is a "gamey" mechanic, but I mean.. once you have researced it, you have it.. so it should not be to much of an annoyance

Sounds like the easiest way is just put your downloaded habitat in sandbox, delete the enrichment items, place that blueprint in your zoo, and add enrichment items later.
Handily, the game does give us the list of all animals able to use a particular enrichment item once that item is unlocked.

When I upload to the workshop, I often don´t put in anything other than the "regular" enrichment items, this way, people can put in or swap whatever they want.

As Szynszyl said: " I don't think that there is a zoo in the world that first adopt animal and then prepare for it. "

I agree.

Well, given that we are restricted to within the confines of the game, there is no other research available other than that we do ourselves. We do not get to share research with other people's zoos. In a way, it does make sense that we would need to test items to see if they would appeal to a particular animal. Sort of like the top toy makers using children to test the appeal of their new toys.
