Crocodiles escape through barriers
I have gharials in the zoo and they constantly go through the barriers underwater. I tried to make barriers concrete or brick or glass ect, tried to make it with rocks, but they just go through anything. Does anyone else have this problem?

It's a known glitch in the game. Best thing is build water with more actual terrain around it. Also go to frontier support forums, sign up, and vote for it to be fixed. It's a confirmed bug.

I was hoping this would be fixed by now. It is a shame. I just kind of avoid these animals now.

Oh alright, thanks for the replies folks! I was just going through career level in the desert where you can't make any water areas (there is only one huge natural one) and the crocs are all over the place, guess I'll have to find a way around it. Thank you!

Ah, yeah that's a pain. When animals deep dive they ignore all barriers. When they surface if it's outside the barriers it's an escape. Unfortunately nothing you can do.

Just wondering if you found a way around this? I am currently having the same issue on same level with both my crocs and gharials, which are also swimming into each others enclosures.

They are swimming through terrain?

Mine swim through terrain sometimes. Rare but I have used locator pin on a crocodile and was deep diving in the ground.

After studying this phenomena a bit I find that the issue is in the animations. For the animals to look like they move there are multiple animations that get strung together. These animations are the models doing the movements while moving along a path known as a spline. Some of these splines seem very large on the swimming animals which means the splines do not always remain within the confines of an habitat. The saltwater crocks seem to have some of the largest. When a spline ends outside the habitat the associated animal becomes escaped. Similar things happen with climbers/leapers.
Hope this explains why it happens, just wish I knew a way to solve the issue.

No, their enclosure's both sure the same lake, but are on opposite ends of it. They both keep escaping through the exact same spots in their enclosure and then go into each others through the same spot. I have tried multiple different ways to block the areas but they just swim through whatever I put there.
I have actually just given up playing because if was just ruining the fun of the game for me, such a shame because aside from this it's not a bad game

sorry I'm late with my reply, I've seen you already given up playing . I actually didn't find any way or barrier that would hold them, but I heard making the terrain barrier helps. I didn't have a chance to check it out myself though yet.

Terrain barriers are best on diving animals. I hope they do fix false escapes/glitch escapes. I just emergency capture them and go about my play.
