Read my odd thread, "South East Asia. Something new?"
I barely hint that they look like the "R" word and the faithful fanboys put me in my place. My actual point was, we have enough cats, bears etc in the game, we need to spice it up. It's like, for me, every new pack is more or less the same. Or, at least they feel the same.
Anyway, you're spot on. The new ones appear to be an interpretation of a binturong, over an actual likeness.
My line is, they may not be reskins, but they sure look like they are.
But yeah, you're right, these does look like reskins, more so if you take a look at the mods on Nexus.
It is sad though like you said that all the DLC we have gotten so far hasn't really changed the game that much. Maybe the aquatic pack did a little but people were making underwater viewing anyways before it came out
Indeed, I never have thought I'd seen a ugly animal in this game but sadly this has proven me wrong. I do hope they fix it but I have serious doubts that they will and we have to rely on someone on Nexus to fix it
+1. The majority of animals we have gotten through paid DLC's have been absolute re-skins of the base animals that launched with the game. On occasions there have been new animals with new mechanics, but since it's all through paid DLC, they should all be new animals with new mechanics.
Frontier are known for their DLC methods at this point. DLC is fine as long as it's introducing new elements and stuff to toy around with, which most of these DLC's, unlike Planet Coasters, do not.
I wouldn't get too mad if it still looks like this when the DLC is released because in my Opinion it's better if they use as much Time as they need instead of trying to fix it in a specific Time Frame
I feel like you are forgetting to mention that they add the new gameplay mechanics in free (!) updates. The DLCs add more animals and scenery pieces for the people that want them. I'd rather have it that way than the other way around where you have to pay if you want additional gameplay mechanics.
Are you able to give us the link to this post? Because if they are generally going to fix it then that's great. And like you said, this model will do until they make it better in like a free update
Planet games come incomplete, I don't think Frontier should be given a pat on the back for including free updates. They have to continue to develop the game further because their launches are bare minimum, content wise. If they did not, they would have no fan base.
Regardless, that doesn't detract from the fact that out of the DLC's they have released so far, they have been unremarkable and mostly just re skins of base game animals. Their DLC model for Planet Coaster was more fair than what they've been doing with Planet Zoo.
This is a link to where the developers say they will lookover/hopefully fix the binturong. We'll probably see these changes in a free update if it isn't ready for launch
I hear you. IMO, it's not unreasonable to expect something new and unexpected in a new pack. It's like TS4. The game literally went backwards. Things like the bars all look more or less the same. Or, they'll introduce a "new" plant, which is merely a recolour of something they already did. And then they charge you a small fortune, for pixels.
How hard can it be to create new items for a game? After all, countless fans create CC, usually for free. So, it can't cost a fortune to make. However, it's time that's being neglected since so many game devs do this.
Don't get me wrong, Frontier are a cut above EA. So, they don't have to aim high. lol
Guess I'm sick of getting games that are wrapped in bright colours and look all pretty, but are hollow inside.
