LOL, not sure that's what the tutorial intended to be done but it is what worked for me.
Heck I should have tried that too! But yes I am in Madagascar (double checked just now) and I just basically gave up afterwards since nothing worked! But I'll try that sneak version and see if it works :D
This didn't happen no matter how many times I did it :(
Hence why I asked for help here xD
Also note that the early career zoos seem to be set up as to force the player to do the objectives in the order and at the time they are introduced. Often one needs to click the objective in the objectives panel to begin the process.
I ultimately decided that, for whatever reason, the game had just hiccupped and wasn't recognizing the delete. I really didn't want to start over to see if it would work correctly on a second attempt and was really happy the workaround I tried did allow me to go on.
I can work with barriers in sandbox and to the best of my memory, this is the one and only time I wasn't able to get a barrier section to delete. Hope I haven't jinxed myself with that statement. :)
As the commentator above me wrote: Yes I can still work the barrier fine in sandbox mode, but I cannot for the love of what is holy do that one objective without having to do it another way (as they described earlier in this post)
And after trying it out myself, I can for sure say that it worked. I cannot do it like the object wants me to, I have to use a mechanic to repair the fence...
IMHO, one area of testing by Frontier after preparing an update should be the tutorials. If customers are lost because refunds are quickly requested out of frustration, it certainly doesn't help their fan base grow. The two hour or under limit for playing in order to get a Steam refund isn't long enough for PZ. There is simply far too much to learn to reach a decision in that short amount of time.
I also found the tutorials more difficult than what should be the case for a brand new player. Having played for a couple of months now, it seems to me that Frontier felt like the majority of new players would have played Planet Coaster and have some familiarity with game mechanics. I didn't and the tutorials felt random and with not enough instruction to accomplish some objectives. They were more like a struggle than a tutorial. I can't think of any other game where I've had to watch YouTube videos to play a tutorial, lol. Anyway, at the very least they should, again my opinion, ensure they are working properly so more frustration isn't encountered like occurred with this broken barrier.
MeowzieMidget, I'm certainly glad the mechanic option worked for you, too. Yay!
But hopefully they'll drag this issue into the next update that the tutorial career is double checked for errors :D
cheers
