I'm not sure if it's possible but one could place the gate and raise it in advanced placement and them connect barriers from there. but again I'm not sure what happens below it. Will the animals escape under it?
It really is much better to do an elevated path above a habitat.
Anyway, the guest gate requires terrain but it does not care where that terrain is so all you need is a thin slice of elevated terrain to place the guest gate and then use the null barrier to attach the ends to the "regular" habitat barrier using construction pieces/nature to close up the gap in the 'regular" barrier. The exit guest gate could be ground level or done the same way- whatever you like.
I did want it to be a walk through enclosure and I think I have achieved it, the guests seem to like it
The next time I do it I will have to remember to put a little bit of terrain under it
What I mean is something like this:

You can simply build a gate out of scenery pieces for your guests to walk through on a regular path, so you don't need the extra terrain or whatever. Only works for guests though, keepers still need the original habitat gate to get in.
