Start with "cheaper" animals. Carnivores are expensive, early game, so stick to herbivores until you get a good, regular income. Have lots of food and drinks (your biggest money makers) and also have education. Research the animals (vet research) and have signs and/or education talks. Educated guests donate more money :)

Exhibits can be a ready source of income for an early zoo with minimal expense. Try using three of them with poison frogs.

If you have Problems keeping your Animals alive, maybe it is because your Staff Rooms and Keeper Huts are too far away from the Enclosures or you don't have enough Keepers. Food with higher Quality seems to make the Time until the Animals need to be fed again shorter but of course this will cost more Money, so wait with this until your Money Problems ended. This is only a temporary Solution but some Animals like Lions and Gorillas for Example can be sold for approximately 10000$. Also Shops seem to be more productive at earning Money than Vending Machines. Also try if you can raise the Entrance Price. Normally enough Guests should come even if you raise it so much that the Guest Thoughts about it are in yellow. I agree with breeding and selling Exhibit Animals. Maybe you can build a Reptile House near the Entrance

I start with just exhibits and some basic shops. Keep adding exhibits until I have them all. (I enclose them in a big exhibition centre building once I have the money to build one rolling in). Sell the exhibit animals that breed prolifically for cash. Once I have a steady income being generated I add animals like the Alhambra Tortoises as they breed in big numbers which I also sell for cash. then I expand slowly with more animals. I add one thing at a time and check to make sure the income is greater than the expenses. You should be pretty well set for further expansion. Don't forget to increase your ticket prices gradually. :HappyPCGuest::LaughingGuest::TongueGuest:

New player here.

While learning how to work with the editor in franchise mode, my entire operation is financed by two aardvarks, 1 drink + 1 food + 1 info and a couple of donations boxes. So far this has netted me 280000.

Granted... it has been running for a while now, but I never ran short on money during my building experiments.

Really, the economy is extremely simple.

like the startup screen says happier guests spend more money so keep them happy and remember to place ATM machines near the shops, donation boxes near education boards and security cameras with a guard walking around. People like to feel safe. You can check where all the money is going in the finance section maybe try paying staff a bit less initially
