Also, I don't know if it's a little buggy about the fact that you had the path 'inside' the habitat for guests, when it wasn't an animal that's supposed to have guests in the habitat. I say this because when I've made habitats for flamingos and macaques, which allow guests, then ran the path through the habitat and placed the talking point in it, I've gotten the okay on everything, including guests being able to feed the animals.
Interesting! I'll keep that in mind.
If that's the case, I hope they fix the bug, because it was just a raised viewing platform, and not actually "inside" the habitat.
Almost a year ago people had problems with the info boards not working properly when they were too far away from the barrier or too high above terrain level. Pretty sure talk points work the same way and need to be within a certain distance of terrain level when build on a raised platform. Iirc the max distance was somewhere from 4-6m. Only problem is, we don't know the exact point the distance is measured from, I don't think the whole item of the talk point is used for calculation but rather a single point somewhere within the item.
Talking points are definitely buggy, but the trick is to figure out what works, then ignore all the notices. Guests love my animal talks, even when they can't throw food into the habitat, and that notice about not being able to reach the talking point comes up when you schedule the talk too soon in the future for the speaker and a lot of guests to get to. I recommend 3 months in between talks. If you're playing sandbox mode and don't have to worry about budget, the best way is to hire an educator for each talking point you have, and set each talking point as it's own work zone so you can designate each educator to their own talk.
