Animal Talk Point "Misassigned" Despite Being Right on Top of Enclosure?
I have a Timber Wolf enclosure with a raised viewing platform and I wanted to put a talking point on it.
However, despite being literally inside (edit: above) the enclosure, and able to throw food in, it still says misassigned species?

I have an educator with the work zone assigned, the talking point is assigned to the work zone, and everything is accessible and set up. Is this just a bug or am I missing something here?

Almost a year ago people had problems with the info boards not working properly when they were too far away from the barrier or too high above terrain level. Pretty sure talk points work the same way and need to be within a certain distance of terrain level when build on a raised platform. Iirc the max distance was somewhere from 4-6m. Only problem is, we don't know the exact point the distance is measured from, I don't think the whole item of the talk point is used for calculation but rather a single point somewhere within the item.

UPDATE: I moved it slightly closer to the habitat entrance and it fixed it. So I'm leaving this here for anyone who may experience a similar issue. It seems to have to be close to the entrance to the habitat.

I think it's not actually the entrance, just the wall. I often have talking points way around the other side of the habitat from the entrance, but it needs to be very close to the viewing wall. For example. If I have a curved glass barrier and curved path along it, but it happens to be one of those places where the space between the wall and path is a little bigger, because my curves don't match exactly, then the talking point, even though on the side of the path next to the habitat, will say it's not close enough. Slide it down the path till it's practically leaning against the window, then it works.

Also, I don't know if it's a little buggy about the fact that you had the path 'inside' the habitat for guests, when it wasn't an animal that's supposed to have guests in the habitat. I say this because when I've made habitats for flamingos and macaques, which allow guests, then ran the path through the habitat and placed the talking point in it, I've gotten the okay on everything, including guests being able to feed the animals.

Interesting! I'll keep that in mind.

If that's the case, I hope they fix the bug, because it was just a raised viewing platform, and not actually "inside" the habitat.

I tried making talk points temporarily, but ended up deleting them all and firing the educator because it was going on about being unable to feed the animals through the 6-metre high one-way glass I had installed. I guess there is some small benefit to fences afterall, though I'd been mainly using one-way glass for animal privacy.

Talking points are definitely buggy, but the trick is to figure out what works, then ignore all the notices. Guests love my animal talks, even when they can't throw food into the habitat, and that notice about not being able to reach the talking point comes up when you schedule the talk too soon in the future for the speaker and a lot of guests to get to. I recommend 3 months in between talks. If you're playing sandbox mode and don't have to worry about budget, the best way is to hire an educator for each talking point you have, and set each talking point as it's own work zone so you can designate each educator to their own talk.
