DLC Model
I know people have harped on this game forever over its DLC model, but jesus man its just sad at this point. Even price wise I'd be willing to pay extra just to get more animals so it really feels like there's animals worth getting, but ever since the Arctic expansion I've held back, hoping that at least one of the DLC's would have a substantial amount of animals. It's practically been a year, and throughout the entirety of 2020 we can now say we've added what, like maybe 15 animals(counting the dlc about to come), with 2, likely 3 of those being exhibit animals that are kind of just glorified decorations. I wouldn't even mind having exhibit animals take up space in the packs if the actual enclosure animals we got wasn't so small compared to the time we spend waiting, and now with the newer DLC I've just kinda lost the little bit of hope I was holding onto that we might get to see something big. I've seen other people mention that they might come back around to south america to add missed opportunities, same for australia, and I guarantee the same will be said about the aquatic pack, but realistically I doubt that'll ever happen. I don't know, but it just saddens me seeing that game I grew up with trickle out about four animals a pack and tell me thats all we're getting for an entire content or biome from them. I know this was kinda ranty, but I just felt the need to say it.

i agree, it should have had a different pattern to that of planco, it seemed to work for what ever reason, dont remember many people moaning how planco dlc was, but i got into it late so i dont truly know.

from what ive seen about this game everyone wants more animals, more animals, but i think they dont realise the price tag, more time, computer compatibility?? i think frontier would have to mark it up alot higher than people expect if DLC's contained 15 - 20 animals, and it would take longer between DLC's which again the community would moan about and affect revenue?? who knows

they have a good business model in their eyes so they decide to stick with it. unless someone from frontier states reasons why they are doing it this way, we will never know and can only speculate

we will just have to hope that they introduce expansion packs later on in the games life ( this new pack has opened up many possibilities) . honestly, if you like playing this game the DLC's are worth it, they are pretty cheap considering. its like the cost of a lunch, or a meal from burger king for example.

IMO, they enhance the game, you can get so many play hours from them ( i know i have). to not get them is your own loss. YOU and only YOU is missing out

I think the current model is fine. I'd rather get new content often, than 1-2 big packs per year. The pricing is fine by me, and if you can't afford it, wait for a sale. Arctic was available for just 3 bucks during black friday.

I get that last point, but again I remember feeling kinda hyped around the south america pack, then realized "oh wait, there's still barely a handful of south america animals and I can't be sure they'll EVER go back to it." Since then I've kinda abstained from buying it, because personally it doesn't really feel worth my money, ya know? I read another post where a guy pointed out how the price per animal is double in DLC than it is in the base game, going from 50 animals for 50 dollars to more like 5 animals for 10 dollars. I get for other people its worth it, but personally with what route I wish they took with this game's DLC model every DLC announcement just falls flat for me when I see the size of the DLC's roster, regardless of the biome or continent they visit.

$10 for five new animals and 170++ items is a bargain. Check the credits for all the people who work on Planet Zoo. They all deserve to be paid. If you enjoy the game, support them. With over 100 animals and hundreds of items, there's no better zoo simulator. Frontier is doing an amazing job, just like they did with Planet Coaster.:voteyes:

I don't mind it as it is but I guess it could have been fun to have 4 animals int he first pack, 5 in the second pack, 6 in the third pack etc.

I would not suspect the devs to give us 10+ completely new modeled animals for the price of 10 dollars or euros every 3 months. But I would like to see a little more than just 4-5 animals, even if it would be like 1-2 exhibit animals, about 4 completely new species and then a couple of remodeled animals, which can be easily done from existing species models. There could be for example przewalski horses or wild donkeys from zebras, different crocodile species, maybe alpaca, guanaco or vicunja from lama, smaller cat species, like puma or whatever from other cat models. Some of them were already created as mods. They could simply ask some of the modders to get these models from them for some payment. And with no bigger investments or work they get a bunch of new animals to offer. I know many people don´t like to see too many remodels in the game, but for me its not a big deal, if it there are some of these in addition to completely new content.
Or maybe at least a free animal species in between as a surprise for christmas or whatever from time to time.
But all in all I am glad with the development of the game, now they introduce diving and some more content, maybe this can also lead to flying animals in future...

With those DLCs there will always be people who complain, that they are too expensive. In fact, this even was the case with expansions a long time before DLCs (internet was so slow you could not just *download* a game) existed. If it's too expensive, don't buy it. I really like that all animals are really beautiful and well done. I really enjoy just watching them do their things. And I'm okay with ~ 8 euros for that. Don't forget, that you also get more options on the building side.

Still, I miss so quite a lot in planet zoo atm. I would love to see real aquariums (not just 5 aquatic animals that like swimming), or birds and also there is so much potential gameplay-wise. Seeing how slow they release content I'm afraid we have to wait quite some time for those things. They haven't even touched anything gameplay-related with any DLC yet and we don't know if they ever will.

The next DLC is tempting me for Otters alone, but I stopped buying them after the Arctic one. Just too few animals per DLC. I'll wait for a deep, deep sale. The 100+ items other than the animals just isn't a selling point either for me.

And I'm fine with having lots of DLC (I play lots of cities skylines and own all DLC for that game). Just as it is, they are not worth the money for myself.

can you even comprehend how unsustainable that is?

I agree and I posted the same thing but apparently "Everyone is allowed to have opinions" except for me, and my thread got locked immediately. Is this reddit?

Cause apparently YOU think its okay to call people "greedy cheapskates" because they dont want to pay for dlc's, while you trashed everyone in other ways aswell...

You're perfectly allowed to argue without insults or name-calling.

It's the same in every forum: Be nice, be respectful, use real arguments, don't insult other ppl for whatever reason and you won't have any problems anywhere. If you can't do this and if you can't behave, you simply don't have the required attitude for any forum.

My complaint would be I want more content. I am honestly willing to spend $10 every other month for new animals. Give me 6 packs a year baby!

i read your post, i get what youre saying, but yeah it wasnt cool calling people 'greedy cheapskates'.

i agree with your point in saying if you like the game then support it, this is a good way to think of it. i know its frontier who are worth quite abit anyway lol and well established, but it all helps toward development and what they have in store for future games.

this way frontier can continue development and hopefully planet zoo will get better and better too!
