The type of grass that can be painted is determined by the biome you choose to place your zoo when you start it. Just like in your own back yard. Only certain types of grass will do well depending on your climate soil type, etc.

I placed the yellow dry grass from Africa in Taiga. I took it back up because it got wet when it rained though

Some people use certain plants or even trees to make it look like that apparently but its not an ideal solution.
We need to be able to choose appropriate terrain pallet.
There is no reason why you shouldnt be able to have african type grass in a european zoo...

There's times when you create a habit to the size needed by Welfare and it's a juggling act to get the percentages of ground types required. How is it possible when it's asking for 30% short grass but also 30% soil and 60% rock?! Something in the game is off balance there.

But I suppose where ever you are in the world is what will grow on the ground there. But I have noticed in most real zoos that the creatures simply live in enclosures full of stuff growing that's natural to the area. They are raised in it, being born there. There's no palm trees in Cheshire! They just will not grow! We are devoid of deserts as well, it rains too much.
