Templates
First and foremost there are some ridiculously talented people out there. Wow, some very nice templates. However, and i know this is on my end, when i go to place them, they start in the air.Even if i lower them after, they ground is still all jacked up. Is there a trick to place them as is on a flat land?

Your ground may look flat but it is best to always flatten to terrain the area in which you want to place the blueprint. You probably already know that. What I do is make something in sandbox (after flattening the terrain) then add signs on the ground - "see me" and "bury me" (right under the ground). That way it is placed in challenge or franchise (where it costs me money) without any problems. If you are getting items from the workshop, I suggest flatten terrain in sandbox, place how it looks good and add the signs then save a blue print of it. Others probably have a lot of good suggestions but this works for me. :)

I've found that if even a LITTLE bit of the blueprint is made under the ground, the results want to fly above ground when used later.

Trick I found is to clear out some of the grass by painting the ground a different material (I usually do short grass) roughly where I want my blueprint to go if I know it flies, and then once I get it in a rough location, I hit X.

This brings up the Advanced Move option so it doesnt go flying around while I'm fiddling. I then zoom waaaaay in and use the colored arrows to shift my blueprint up and down until its ground level. Then I get it into the final position and click the check mark button.

Thanks for the replies so far. Yes i did try in the sandbox, that is where it happens.

If there is anything in blueprint that is below the ground, the blueprint will be in the air when you bring it up. This is normal. If the building does not have anything below the ground, it should just sit right on the ground when you place it if it was built on flat land.

What blueprints are you trying to place? It sounds to me that if the ground is 'all jacked up' it could be a habitat and these are slightly different to building blueprints when you place them.
A habitat blueprint will always place above ground due to the terrain changes inside it etc: The best way to place one of these is to make sure you have a large clear area and as others have said get it in the approximate location then hit X for advanced move, concentrate on getting the habitat gate at ground level, watch how the path from the gate is forming for clues (having railings on elevated option on helps then if you see railings form on the path you know you are not level) if you get it right the habitat will place totally flat on your map, no 'jacked up' ground
